VIDEO: Brunswick Red Zone Vs. Impulse Zone 10/09/06
« on: October 09, 2006, 05:21:21 PM »
Hey Ballreviews & Brunswick Family,

Well, I threw a few balls at the local alley tonight. Decided to take advantage of some free games, so I took the Red Zone out for a spin and compared it to an Impulse Zone that I acquired from another user here on BR.

Here is a comparison of Brunswick's Red Zone (Solid Reactive) Vs. the Impulse Zone (Solid Low-Load Particle). This was shot on a Medium Condition House shot with noticeable carrydown after several hours of open play. This comparison video was shot on 10/09/06. All shots were shown in the order thrown. This means you will see the good, bad & the ugly! So beware! Hehe...

I noticed that the Impulse Zone was a bit stronger in the oil. I was able to move about 3-5 boards left with my feet with the Impulse Zone. The Red Zone compliments the Impulse in a great way though as it clears the heads cleaner than the Impulse Zone. My Positive Axis Point is 5 1/2 over and 5/8 up (More stats in my profile). Layout coordinates for each ball are shown in the video.

I apologize for the graininess of the video as I am using an old version of Windows Movie Maker. Thanks for watching and I hope this helps!

If you have any questions, let me know and I'll be glad to help out.

Bowl good!

Awesome Video Ram. You can definitely see the difference between the Red Zone and Impulse Zone. The Impulse Zone seemed like it blended out the lanes really well. You had tug left a little and area to the right. Whereas the Red Zone, it gave an over and under look. You couldn't play it tight inside or get it too far right. Speed, Rev Rate and tilt was key.

Moons Over My Rammy!

Cool video! Talk about a little open play over-under!

Dpat: Hey bud, yeah, I think it was the flash of the camera, but the Red Zone that I have seems to be kinda bright reddish on some parts of the ball. I've seen others that are dark red like yours.

Jon: Yeah man, weird. After a surface change (800 grit, then Ebonite Factory Polish over it), it seemed to come to life. Ball still doesn't like Carrydown, but it seems to do its' job though.

Nickster: Thanks man. It was a little over-under combined with Operator Error! LOL

Hope you guys enjoyed it and/or find it helpful,
Ramski

Nice vid.  I have a good friend who has an arsenal of all assymetric Zones.  He has an Impulse, Time Zone, Warp Zone, Red Zone, 2 Classics and 2 Red Pins.  Very easy transition from ball to ball for him.  The Red Zone looks like a clear cut winner.  I have vowed myself not to drill up anything until Dec 1, but boy do I have a long list ready....
