Ebonite does have patents on "bowling ball" demo days. Nobody mentioned snowboarding here.

The interchangeable thumb allows for greater ease in providing the participants with options for different thumb sizes. Without them, you would pretty  much have to drill a ton of different balls, rather than just adjusting sizes on a smaller number.

As for Ebonite having a patent, that's not possible. They may have the exclusive right to use the term "demo days" just like Brunswick has the patent on "Cosmic Bowling", but there is no way that they have any right that keeps other companies from setting up similar presentations. That would be like a baseball coach trying to keep other coaches from setting up clinics.

When I went it was great.

All balls were drilled stacked either pin over bridge or pin below bridge cg in palm.

Perfect for either hand.

Usually this drill pattern breaks away a little for me(ie not grabbing in midlane enough).  But still it gives one a great comparison between balls.!

Had a great time and ended up with a HAWG!!

I think maybe a great ball.

I go and sit in my Garage and think about drilling it some days.  Then it goes back in the box.  Saving excitement for another day!

Actually, Ebonite does have a patent on the concept of Demo Days.
The concept of interchangable sleeves in demo balls is all theirs.

We are in the process of beginning to use Johnny Petraglia in demonstration seminars around the country. It's more of us talking about the different balls and JP throwing them to show the difference from ball to ball. I havn't done one yet with JP, but I know we've had great feedback so far on the ones that have been held already. Ric Hamlin and I are in the process of putting together a few for the West coast for January. We'll keep you posted on those in case they're in any of y'alls area.

I was at a trade show where he did that.  He seemed very patient and explained a lot to many people, showing the differences between different balls, etc.
