Well i got a diamond back saturday morning, and drilled it to use in my saturday night league.
I used my perfered layout, 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 pin in my ring finger. balance hole is 1/2 inch down from my PAP. My pap is 4 3/4 straight over. Rev rate is about 390-420rpm ball speed is about 27-28km.
I used the out of box finish of 2K, and its very smooth feel. on the lanes the ball was very early in the midlane. it doesnt really rev up early like the asymetrical seige does. It is however very sharp. the ball once finding friction makes a quick kick left. its' response to friction is much more defined compared to PK18 was.(this is activator)
I was bowling on a medium house shot playing inside of 20 at the arrows and breakpoint was around 10. any farther outside of 7 and the ball went through the face.i was putting the ball down around 30. in the first game this line was difficult to maintain at times because if the ball came out of the oil a board or two inside of 10 it would jump through the face. and too far wide the ball found friction and ran left.
after the first game i moved my feet another 3 left and eyes 2 more and target at the breakpoint another 1 left. suddenly the ball became much more comfortable. midlane is strong for a symetrical, and change of direction is something you would see out of a high end product from another brand maybe. for the price this ball is too good.
I threw the rattler most of last season and it was very good, controlable but strong finish in the dry backends. this summer i used a seige on a medium heavy house shot and this ball really shines for the money.
VS a polished seige this ball was sharper and about 5 boards stronger with my feet. for the money oil has met its match. its not comparable for core but coverstock vs alot of other company's heavy oil balls from 2-3 years ago this meets or beats the market.
in the midprice segment its probably the strongest release for the 09-10 season.
