Weak Pearl
« on: January 29, 2012, 09:13:06 AM »
I want to bridge the gap between my Green/Blue Centaur and my Ogre SS. Would a pin under Slingshot work or maybe an Avalanche pearl. Also wondering about an Inferno or something else with the Activator coverstock. I want smooth not jumpy.

The original Avalanche series were fairly weak ball, better suited for fairly dry conditions. With some exceptions, the line really didn't seem to me to sell very well. SO many people want only hook monsters. I liked the Avalanche Slide so well for really dry conditions, I bought a 2nd as a backup.
And I still use the Avalanche (pearl) urethane. That weak core is perfect for urethane balls.
Any other Avalanches will only be found rarely and on Ebay these days.

I watched an Ebonite 2010 lineup video on youtube and really liked what I saw from the Tornado. So I started looking into the lower Diff pearls with weaker cores that were slightly stronger than the Slingshot, and that's how I came up with the few I listed. I think the core in the Avalanche series makes them a little stronger than what I want. Thanks for the info on the Tornado. Your comments backup what I saw in the video.

The Avalanche Pearl was always perfect for me.  I had a ton of games on mine and it had been resurfaced a lot so I decided to replace it with the Karma Pearl.  It was a good match.  I also have the Slingshot, but it seemed too weak actually.  The Slingshot is almost an arrow.  It goes pretty straight.
