Threw smokin inferno in league last night
« on: July 13, 2005, 03:16:36 AM »
Drilled under ring finger does have weight hole 4 1/4 to pap, ball does get very good length and is more of a backending ball. I also let another person with more tilt and revs use it with not much of a reaction difference, ball clears head well and retains for the back part of the lane on the lane condition i used it on.

The ball did not like carrydown and is weaker than original inferno and intense inferno balls with similar drills, i had best reaction with a dirty bomb pearl which is easily a stronger earlier rolling ball. It did rev up very easily and i believe without the carrydown it will be a great medium condition ball, my driller told me he watched alot of high end players using this ball at the mini eliminator. Most were getting alot of length and backend similar to what me and my friend were getting reaction wise, so i have not used it enough to say for sure it hates carrydown but my intial feelings is that it does with my drilling.

So i will report back next week or so about the carrydown problem maybe take it too 2000 abralon smooth or just knock down the shiny surface slightly first. That might take care of the carrydown problem and hopefully does not kill the built in backend of this ball which is massive.

Barry, haven't talked in awhile.  How are you?

My absolute hates carrydown too.  I've never seen a ball that clears the heads easily and plows through carrydown.

Andrew been good not on too much only during the day, i have become a music download freak at night love that bearshare.com site haha  The ball does have a place in the lineup between original and blazing inferno just like advertised. I got it super cheap from an ebonite staffer who cant throw it anyway, he also got me a total shock and awe from mo himself.

My absolute is very strong and handles carrydown nicely but with box finish the smokin just does not have the pop for me. I did also throw the total shock and awe in game and warmups it was hard keeeping it on the right side of the rack, i know your a big b man but the total shock and awe is very very strong.

Thats fine, I don't need anything strong.  I am looking for the holy grail of dry lane balls, like an OI core with a pearl urethane cover.....

Take care,
Andrew
