Author Topic: Differences between the Inferno and Raging Inferno? (Read 4129 times)

I'm looking to get another ball sometime soon and I am curious as to how Brunswick balls are. I currently have a Columbia Wicked and a Track Phenom Unleashed (Absolutely insane ball, never ceases to amaze me). Since I am a fairly new bowler (4 months bowling) I am looking to try and experience different ball companies to see how they each are. I am eyeing Brunswick as the next company I want to try. I'm very curious about the Inferno and Blazing Inferno. I did read the reviews but I would just like some explanations I guess from folks. I also noticed that someone who had an Inferno said the coverstock died out after 6 months so I don't really want to get a ball where something like that happens. Basically I just would like to know the differences since I am not really familiar with bowling terminology. Sorry!

Both balls are pretty good, you can't go wrong with either one. I have the Inferno and love it. It is designed for medium oil condiditons, but I use mine of fresh, and son't have a problem with it. The raging is supposed to be the heavy oil ball in the series so far. The Inferno has the biggest hook potential of the 3 ball set. The inferno is a particle pearl, not sure what the raging is.

Thats about all the info I can give you, hope it helps somewhat.

No problem.

I know there is more to the game than a hook in the box. But I have improved tremendously in 4 months from when I first started. Rolled a 299 in about 3 months.

I have a friend who has bowled for a long time who helps me out by giving me pointers and is trying to help me develop more consistency. I basically average anywhere from 180 to around 220 on any given day. But I bowl generally 10 games a day as far as practice goes. Sometimes 20.

I definitely understand what you are saying but I just would like opinions on the balls I asked about.

i can't vouch for the inferno dying that quickly. i've had mine since last february and it isn't close to dying. i've taken care to clean it every time it's used plus soak it in the hook again powder every now and then.

Everyone that I've tlaked to says the inferno outhooks the raging. I was just going by what I was told. As far as coverstock. oops, I made a mistake. my bad.
I said the raging was the heavy oil ball of the inferno series.

David,

I have not heard anything about the coverstock dying on the inferno. As long as you take care of the ball, it will take care of you. If someone had one die quickly then they probably never cleaned it, and with a good deep cleaning and a hot water and dawn bath, the ball would probably fully react again.

0.... thats my estimate.... or at least from what i read...

the raging hooks much more earlier than the inferno.... dull particle... thats all i gotta say.... reactive may be more backend.... in which i doubt because of my experiences with these balls.... i have an inferno that i can throw.... i cant throw a raging inferno because its too early too much for me...
but then again i live in the most hooking region in the states.... the northwest.... gotta love living in washington and never drilling something to hook if you have any sort of hand....

Well, first of all, Raging is not a dull ball.. It is particle pearl and polished. Not high gloss as stated by Brunswick but it is polished.
I've drilled many Ragings and original infernos for the last 6 months coz they are liked here very much.
From what I observe, in terms of total hook, original inferno covers couple of boards more then Raging. However, Raging checks up earlier and handles wetter conditions and/or carry down much better. That is what they are intended for. Match up with your style and lane condition is the key here. Both have good midlane read and continuous backend.

Regarding coverstock death, I would like to respectfully remind something again. "Effective" life of a bowling ball is 200 games if you have proper maintenance on it. Eventually it will fade out then whatever the treatment you make. You can gain some power back but you won't be able to restore the original condition ever. That is a physical fact. However I haven't observed significant difference from both Raging and original inferno in terms of dying early.. If you keep proper maintenance, they will serve well.. Atleast much longer than Columbia's or Track's particle coverstocks..

The Inferno series uses the Activator coverstock, not PK 18.

Don't forget the new, unreleased Ultimate Inferno, which has a dull reactive activator coverstock which is supposed to outhook the Raging.

So, for medium- Inferno, and for heavy- Raging if you like particle, or wait for the Ultimate if you want a dull reactive version of the inferno (it has the same core, just dulled up).

They do have Powerkoil 18 as cover but renamed. Go to the Brunswick site to the community forum and you will find the answers. Just like I found that the Revolution Pro Gear bowling ball is the same exact original Danger but with a different name. Go to their High performance ball forum and we can find all the answers to all the Infernos. Directly from the horses mouth.

Well I had the Inferno drilled up today.

Only got to throw a couple of games, but wow I like this ball. Really nice stuff.

I can't wait to try this out tomorrow or Monday.
