need some advice/ new ball suggestions
« on: November 20, 2006, 11:22:42 AM »
the last few times I've been bowling it seems like things are hooking more than normal. I've tried different lines and hand positions. i'm left handed. All i have is a Monster Frenzy with pin under bridge and cg straight down from that, and a punisher with pin right of ring cg back under the ring about 2.5 inches down. the monster is the weaker of the two and i use it most of the time. i normally play 15 at the arrows out to 5 down lane. i guess what i'm really asking is there any ball that is out right now for brunswick that is smoother on the back end, or anything i can try on these balls to help my problem? I've heard good things about the Ambush but would that be to much ball? I've never seen one thrown at my house and the proshop doesn't have any in right now. but i've seen video's and someone at another house throw it.. i know this post got a little long but any help would be appreciated.. thank you

The ambush would most likely be too much as its a light load particle. What might benifit you is something in the power groove line. Maybe a Power Groove Reactive. (this is based off what you have described, not knowing anything about your physical game)

It is hard to advise what ball for you not knowing your specs, but for the most part if you are throwing on dryer conditions then most would throw less aggressive cover and higher RG core. A Power Groove Dry-R would work unless you have low revs. A high rev player could make plastic hook like crazy on dry. A low rev needs a little help from the cover and core. You might polish your frenzy. The new Infernos go longer.

The Dry/R was a thought I had in mind also.

Dry/R would also be my suggestion, not drilled too weak (maybe similar to your Frenzy). The normal PGs are quite strong, but also a option. Maybe with a pin-out ball and a pin-above-fingers drilling this would work, too?

Another ball to consider might be the discontinued Particle Power Groove, the Black Sparkle. With polish to it, it is quite close to the reactive PGs, but a touch smoother and better to control. Again, with a length drilling, this might work, too, and probably better to control than a reactive one.
