Taming a Rampage (Flying backends)
« on: October 23, 2005, 12:39:19 PM »
I'm having trouble with this ball during the second and third games while the oil breaks down. Once it touches dry the ball flips hard and I wanna smooth out the reaction. Pic: http://putfile.com/pic.php?pic=10/29520125720.jpg&s=x10
OOB it's 400 grit with high gloss polish. Any suggestions as to what surface should I bring it close to an even reaction?

Any scuffing up of the shell will do.

A teammate of mine scuffed his up and it did smooth out his reaction.

Hey that looks like my work in my shop and on My brand new cheap a.. carpet that coming up already. i just put that down in July the guys at the Home Depot said that high traffic carpet...what ever. well anyway.

Bass i would hit that with a fresh 500 abralon pad and then a 2000 abralon pad that should do the trick. Bass anything you need I'm just a phone call away.

I already have a SlayR which has plenty of polish; courtesy of Next Level PS.

There have been several good suggestions so far on how to tame this ball down on the backends. I like the idea of making the extra hole larger.

Just to let you know, I believe this is exactly why the Ambush is going to be a good addition to this line. It still reads on the fresh, but does not overreact on fresh/dry backends or on any dry area outside your target. Kind of like someone said earlier, why use the Rampage on something it was not meant for. PK18, the cover on the Rampage, is meant to be strong off the dry and good for a sharper breakpoint shape.
