Dry/R vs Blue/Green Centaur
« on: January 02, 2012, 06:15:33 AM »
i have these 2 balls and i know they are very different. in fact there seems to be a big gap between the reactions. i think both are at or near factory finish. i want to add a little surface to the Dry/R to narrow the gap between them, will it handle it?

I have had both of these balls. My Dry/R wouldnt do anything til there was virtually no oil. Didnt matter what surface changes I made. I would try a Slingshot to go under the GB Centaur.

Also had a Dry/R for a short time, but only know the B/G from seeing it in action. Pretty much agree with the afroementioned assessment: both balls are very different from each other, and the Dry/R has a very mild reactive cover, couple with a high RG core. It pushes so easily down the lane, while the B/G rather behaves like a tamed-down "normal" reactive. It is length vs. control, IMHO.

I doubt that you can do much with sanding on the Dry/R, based on my experience with it, because it is so mild by nature. I suppose that you have to make it really dull to improve traction, and at that point it more or less kills the ball's innate qualities. A Slingshot should be a true option - drilled similar to the B/G, this should yield a similar reaction shape with slightly better length in the front part of the lane.
