Dude vs. Melee
« on: November 27, 2013, 11:09:32 AM »
Am I correct in thinking the Dude might be a bit stronger to a similarly drilled Melee?

From what I've seen yes you would be correct.  The Melee with a 60x5x70 layout compared to the same layout on a Dude, was much smoother down lane over the Dude.

Jason, what is your definition of "smooth"?  I don't see a violent move on the back from either.  Would you say The Dude has more a "bow" shape as Salvino likes to say while the Melee is also a "bow" but flatter?  Its getting near impossible for me to differentiate from all the balls coming out.

Yeah that would be accurate.  I saw more of a pronounced move off of the dry from the DUDE.  Now these are out of box surfaces too.  As I did play with the Melee a bit, (bringing it down to as low as 1000) the ball came alive and had a much stronger reaction.  These 2 are very similar IMO.  Both very smooth and predictable and both take to the surface adjustments very well.  For me, I love the dark colouring on the DUDE, very readable and just feels good.  But if you're going back and forth between which one to get, pick your favourite Brunswick or DV8 and go with that.  You can't go wrong with either.

Wow, im shocked in hearing this.... From my experiences in both winning a melee at the brunswick,DV8,Radical pro shop seminar, and from watching Mr. jonny Petraglia throwing them both himself, both drillied identical. I saw a much much different reaction between these two gems.   Perhaps, the total amount of boards covered by Johnny himself, was the same, the Melee had a much smoother and controllable midllane read, than the Dude.... For Him, he set up a cone on the 8board down lane at 47'.  The melee nearly knicked the left side of the cone as it came read the mids m,uch sooner before driving thru the 1-2 pocket and finishing right between the 8-9 pins.   The dude, was about two boards left of the melee at 47' and about two to three ft longer before making a much sharper almost even flippy move to the 1-2, also exhibiting the same drive thu the nine pin.  In fact i remember Johnny specifically saying when testing out balls, he conducts his analysis basing it on how many solid 8 pins he leaves.  And for him i believe of all the new releases from the three brunswick corporated companies this past seminar, that the dude was his trickiest ball to adapt confidence with, because of the boat load of solid 8pins it was leaving, whereas he said the melee, was perhaps his favorite, as it exhibited a much more controllable yet continues hard arc...

Btw,i absolutely love the melee i won at that seminar, whereas my boss won the dude, and he gets literral effortless length thru even the driest of heads with it.

Just my two cents.

Take it for whatever it may be worth

Jason, I have to agree with the darker color of the Dude being more appealing to my eye as it rolls.  That would be my choice.

Sean, thanks for your post.  I didn't really understand what you were saying except you really like your Melee.

Sean, your explanation of the Melee was very articulate and easily understandable.  No need to clarify anything further for the previous poster. He seems to just not get it sometimes.

Pure trolling.  Needs to stop

That is what I wrote in the dialogue box when I reported your latest trolling attempt.  Thought you would have learned by now.  Oh, well.  We'll just lock this thread.  I got the feedback I wanted.  Thank you, Jason.
