Effect of MB placement
« on: May 12, 2007, 07:00:56 AM »

In drilling a Strike Zone and using a 4" pin to pap placement, how much effect does the placement of the MB have on the balls reaction?

Thanks for the help.

I checked your profile and you have slow speed. I wouldn't recommend a 4" pin. I'd stick closer to 5".

To answer your question, YES the placement of the MB has an effect on the shape of the breakpoint. To keep it simple, a MB close to the right side of your thumb will give you a longer and more snappy look. As the MB gets closer to the PAP the ball rolls earlier with a more controlled back end.

Thanks so much for the help.  I would assume then, that for an oiler condition, the mb should be nearer to the pap to get an earlier reaction.

A MB in the 45 to 55 degree range will give you an earlier reaction with a controlled back end. You might want to consider a pin above your fingers.
