Brunswick... incredible.
« on: May 12, 2007, 05:34:26 AM »
I posted earlier about how I found a PBA Inferno on accident and drilled it up. I have never had a ball rev up and hit as hard as the ball did. I was very impressed, so I figured I would try another Brunswick ball (seeing as the only other ball I had was a Power Groove... woo).

My friend had an Ambush that he didn't want so I plugged the thumb and left the pin where it was (about a inch to the right, about 3 o'clock from my ring) and wow. I build it up to 2000 sanded (no polish) and threw it on our house shot and what a ball. I am very excited to try this out on our "Shot of the Week" league on Monday night. Predictable and a very strong move to the pocket without a lot of over reaction. I have been a storm guy for a long time, but I am very quickly beginning to see that Brunswick has a few gems of their own.

That's for sure.

I think that the PBA Inferno will only be able to take on medium-heavy oil to be able to perform its best.  The Ambush is more of a medium-oil ball, and the Power Groove is, as you found out, a light oil type of reactive.  The next step up for you should be the Fury.

I found that out. On our House Shot the inferno is difficult to control, over/under. The ambush is more controllable. The Power Groove I drilled it be basically a spare ball or if there is no oil at all. The pin it almost 4 inches to the right of my ring finger, so you can imagine that it only performs under the most extreme circumstances and is great for spares.

low load particle balls like the ambush are great for controlling the over/under than can occur.

Real bowlers whiff the 3-10 by putting the ball between the two!

We have a Red Zone in the shop that has been sitting for awhile that I might re-drill for myself See, most of the balls that I throw are bowlers who leave their equipment in the shop for more then a month or trade ins.

I don't know how many times I have gotten "This ball is crap, doesn't hook at all!" So I reply "Sure, ill give you 20 bucks off your next purchase" to then turn around and resurface it, re drill it, and roll it like a champ =)
