a "survey" for Inferno owners
« on: October 10, 2003, 07:21:57 AM »
Hey guys, I'm just a little curious guy knowing what is the finish for your Inferno. Mine is scuffed with a green scotch brite pad, then brought up to about 1500 with Storm Exxxtras #2 on four sides, then followed by a cover of Hook-It.

It's a clean ball in terms of a reaction on a lane (on a house shot, at least).

My Inferno was inconsistant and "very touchy." Could hardly ever throw it as you never knew what it was going to do when you released it. Too much over/under I guess. I talked to, I believe it was Greg Hoope, although I'm not sure thats who it was, and he used to have a lot of under/over problems with his, so he sanded it to 2000 with no polish and it eliminated the over/under.......So, all I could find was 1500 sandpaper so I used that. I started out at 400 grit using both a Scotch Brite pad and sandpaper with each increase in grit and increased a step at a time doing a 6 sided sanding each time to 600-800-1000 and then 1500 and "no" Polish. At 1500, the ball looks like it has a light polish job, but it has no polish. This took care of all of the problems I was having which kept me from using it. It is now useable and consistant.

One still has the factory shine, another was hit with rubbing compound followed by Black Magic, and the third is at 1500 dull (Track clean & smooth).

Box condition.  I haven't run into too much over-under with it, so I just left it.  Why fix something that's not broken (well, not for me atleast)?

right now its out of the box. but after leagues last night, seriously thinking about sanding it. any recommendations??? any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't know exactly what shot the house rune but its real heavy oil, I couldn't have found the pocket last night with a high powered rifle and a scope. ball just didn't want to hook in. Didn't seem like a lot of over/under. It just kept kept hitting at the 2/4 instead of the 1/2. (lefty) by the way. lol.

throw the ball around 15/16 mph. medium revs.

Scuffed with a green pad (six sides), followed by an application of Brunswick Factory Finish polish.

my inferno is wetsanded 2,000 grit-----no polish. it works great on anything but VERY dry or oily lanes. the reaction is smooth and consistent. tonight my swamp monster( cerium oxide trizact ) was fine for the first 2 games but was burning up too early. i switched to the inferno the last game and it was a perfect match. same line, and more importantly, same or better results.
