The quick and simple answer to your question is contained in the response from no1bucsfan. However, I suspect that his answer will be meaningless to you. The really really quick and simple answer is: The Inferno hooks more than most Lane 1 balls, but there are a few Lane 1 balls that have a higher hook rating.
A better answer for you would be:
Brunswick, Lane 1, and all other manufacturers provide a wide range of balls with varying covers and cores to match up with most any lane condition. Most of the manufacturers have ratings systems which allow you to compare one of their balls to other balls in their lineup. The problem arises when you try to do what you asked - compare a ball from one manufacturer to another. In a perfect world you could ask your Pro Shop operator, but not all of them are capable of giving you the answer you seek, and some of them will 'fudge' their answer in order to sell you whatever they want to clear out. Another option is for you to drill up a bunch of balls and compare them yourself (my favorite option by the way
), but that can get expensive. What most bowlers do is read either Bowling This Month magazine or Bowlers Journal International magazine. They do ball testing and provide a numbered rating system which allows you to see how a ball from one manufacturer stacks up against a ball from another manufacturer. It isn't perfect, but they do a pretty good job. Sooo, read and educate yourself before you start whupping out the wallet.
