Bill Wasserberger and Ray Edwards can you please do me a favor??
« on: September 25, 2006, 02:19:55 PM »
Can you guys make a low flaring ball in the .020-.035 range with Rg#s in the Range of 2.50-2.55 with a single density core with a decent cover. I think some thing like the old Power Blitz would be perfect.

Please do!  There's nothing on the market soft off the dry with a strong enough cover that can actually read transition.

I'd love to see something simple out there, that's going to be the only way I buy a new ball this season.  I've stopped buying equipment completely because I don't wanna have to spend $175-200 for something that I can use for 4-5 frames at a time then put it up because it's reading funky.

there is a serious gap between the BVP line and the groove line. I always envy guys who throw the Jolts and Black Ices. Bring back the purple power blitz.

Although this sounds like a good idea, I think you might want to watch this video first: http://www.brunswickbowling.com/uploads/images/1341/USBC_proposed_rule_changes_-_X-hole_ban_information.pdf there is a link to the video in this pdf file.

As it states in the video, the main purpose of flare is not for more hook but so that a part of the ball without a ring of oil is touching the lane as much as possibile, preferrably the whole way down.

Flare does create a higher hook potential for the exact reason that you stated.  A fresh surface is in contact with the lane more often.  This fresher surface creates less oil buildup on that part of the cover and will increase hook.  By creating a ball that has a lower flaring core one is creating a lower hook potential ball and a ball that will rev very smoothly off the dry.

I would take 8 of these balls and drill one for every step of the way from light to what most consider med-heavy and watch those fluffers cry when I burned up their line BUHAHAHA!  Seriously though, is it impossible for on of the PBA sanctioned companies to produce a ball that could actually do what the visionary Blue Green Centaur is capable of?  The diff on that thing is something like .14, its a solid and hooks like PLASTIC, I WANT THAT!!! On the other side of that they have such a core in it that you can make it hook like a vapor zone if you drill it agressively, c'mon Big B give me something sweeeet!

How sweet would these be for power players to play a little straigher.

Fagan was killing them everywhere when he used these while bowling for St. Johns.  I still know a few guys with the pearl in their bag.

we could always just grab our old pro-hooks and hit the lanes for some old fashion kegeling...   I would love to see Big B reintroduce the power blitz purple.  Although i would also love to see a reintroduction of the low-flare stinger pearl from ebonite; though my understanding is that the whirlwind is close.
