Ever shoot a 300 and not win the game?

Weird STUFF!! It happened to me last night in our scratch league. We bowl second shift so sometimes there's still a great shot and other times it can be ugly.

Anyway, I was bowling against a friend and we had both found a great line to the pocket. About halfway through the game I went to him and jokingly said "hey, how about we just end this game in a tie?"  He agreed and we kept on striking through the ninth.

Before the tenth frame I asked him if he wanted to go first, or should we trade shots? We decided to trade shots. I went first, he went second, and so on. After I struck on the 12th ball I/we didn't celebrate until after he went Brooklyn and carried.

It was great fun, and I honestly wanted him to keep striking, because I wanted to be able to say that I was part of a rare thing when two guys bowling head-to-head both rolled 300 games against each other on the same game.

On a side note, we also tied the second game at 221, but an ugly split for me in the last frame of game 3 kept me from winning series, but I didn't care a bit. He won 757 to 743. I also didn't throw a single strike during warm-ups. I kept leaving the 10 pin, or a 7 pin, but decided to move left and swing the ball more and it ended up working. I used the Ultra Zone polished with Snake Oil.

Anyone else see this happen before? Just curious...

Wow great shooting. The closest I have ever seen was my oldest brother in a tournament shot 297 and lost against a 299.

I've watched a guy shoot 300 and lose. It was to a guy who also shot 300, but had 1 pin of handicap

If we are including handicap it has happened to me 3 times. Never lost a series to an opponent after shooting 300 though. I think that's kind of unique.

Nice shooting for both of you.

I bowled a Peterson Point League in Rocklin, California (Rocklin Bowl) in Steve Cook's league and tied with a 300....

Didn't lose with a 300, but close.  Was bowling Wendy McPherson in a trio
match play league at Sams Town.  I lost 289 to 300.  Was really a lot of
fun.

30+ years ago, when the PBA made a stop at Saratoga Lanes in San Jose, I watched Mark Roth lose a match in match play 299-300. It was a bittersweet day - the next match he won with a 149.

Great shooting!! Congrats.

I did this a few years ago. The anchor man on the other team and I were going back and forth and I let him finish first (it was his first 300) and then I luckily threw the next 3 as well. Lot's of high fives all around. And he was lefty so that made it cool, a lefty/righty match.
