Evil Siege

I picked up a pair of these balls for the shop and thus far I cannot see any interest in them.

I even posted them for sale on BR here at a really good price since I didn't see any interest in them locally but I have not gotten any interest on here either.

What's wrong with the Evil Siege???

I've had mine two weeks or so and I like it. I suspect it's not "flashy" enough for Joe Bowler.

I had a 15lb drilled after league last week and threw two games with it on a burnt up league shot. I shot a 231 and a 268 right off of the bat. I'm ready to try it during league this week to see what it will do. I was really impressed with it. Very forgiving on the first shot I tried it on.

The Evil Siege is a fantastic ball and seems to be a staff favorite but it doesn't jump off the shelf at you like the 3.5  Also, it seem to be in the shadow of the C System 3.5 a bit as far as popularity amongst Joe Bowler as it is not the "hockey stick" reaction they prefer.  Personally, I love the C System balls because of the different motion they have, but as a tournament bowler I'd rather have the smoother powerful motion of the Evil Siege when the lane conditions are more difficult.  Consistant powerful ball motion always scores better over time.

Threw a team mates after he got his and was very impressed. The pin was 6" from my pap below the middle finger with the cg in the palm and was very smooth with a strong continuous backend. I would say a strong arc not a quick snap.

Great looking ball, especially when polished as I have seen some others.

What weight and price are you asking?

Doug,

I understand your frustration, if that does any good.

My perception -

1. The Evil Siege does not stand out from the crowd. Yet another 4000 grit matte finish pearl. Ho Hum! (I suspect it's an excellent ball, but if Joe Bowler does not perceive it's "the answer to all his scoring problems", it won't sell. Joe is a stupid and gullible SOB.)

2. The Siege's have a very high intermediate Differential (Mass Bias strength measurement) which seems to be going out of vouge/fashion. Even Mo has reduced his MB's from the ridiculous, .035", to the barely asymmetric, .011".  Such a high MB strength makes the MB placement very sensitive to producing good ball reaction, almost hyper-sensitive.

It is the same in my area. The Evil is a good ball, I know I love mine. I have to echo Chris... I think it is overshadowed by the 3.5.

well guys that seems to be what I am seeing/hearing as well...seems the Evil is in the shadow of the highly hyped C-3.5

although now that I think about things the original Siege never got the respect it deserved either....that ball was overshadowed by the C-2.5....

It is a good ball (even though I am getting rid of mine) The reaction was great, very forgiving indeed this thing was a magnet into the pocket. My issue was carry, on three different shots with different surfaces I couldn't get the ten pin to fall consistently. Could it have been the Drill pattern? possibly, Could it have been the bowler? More than likley

But I got rid of it, will try the Big B again in the future, Like I said good ball reaction nice and smooth easy to read, Was not jumpy or flashy but it got to the pocket. Overall it was a solid ball.

Mo has admitted this is due to Coverstock technology advancements, that those high Int. Diffs are no longer needed to get the ball motions needed today.
This is where cover dominant vs core dominant comes into play.

What is the Int Diff of the Siege anyways?

It is interesting that you point this out.  Around here, I am seeing more C-3.5 s.  But, the many of the people that have thrown both (and I have talked to), have said that they prefer the ES.  It covers a broader spectrum of conditions.  But, so many people like the "pretty colors" and the check mark type of reaction and this seems to dictate sales.  I find the ES to be much more consistent and I personally find it easier to read the ball without all of the high contrast colors.  Don't get me wrong, the C-3.5 is a good ball, it is just not for me.

I must echo the sentiments of the others...the C-system 3.5 is FLYING off the shelves and the Evil Siege is lagging behind.  I think people were curious about the 3.5 based on the success of the 2.5.  The same just could not be said about the Evil Siege as I just did not see a ton of Siege's going down the lane.  In my opinion, the Evil Siege is a very good ball.

Another bad marketing move by Brunswick, IMHO. The average bowler won't see a point in buying one of these, because the C-series simply overshadows the other high end lines at the moment. Not only bad timing, but also customer confusion due to two high end lines.
