Extreme THS...Should I drill my Mammoth?
« on: July 14, 2007, 03:00:34 PM »
Alright, I recently started this traveling tournament in Charleston, SC and I've done very good up until our last center.  It was crazy, I've never seen wet/dry lanes like that before.  It seems like anything right of 8 was flying, and at 10 you couldn't hit the head pin no matter what part of the lane u threw it from.  All the balls I'm currently throwing, I couldn't control for the first 4 games, when the lanes broke down i was good.  So, I got a BVP Mammoth sitting at home, do you think it would be good to punch it and shine?  If so, what layout, I've haven't thrown a high-load particle in a long time.

I agree with Ric, in that you should adjust the surface without polish.  Drill it and you'll have a ball that will allow you to find a shot on extreme conditions. What have you got to lose?

I would drill this ball in a heart beat. Try using Abralon before using any polish.

You can always bring the ball back to OOB and then use some polish. But using Abralon gives you an option without filling the pores with polish and still give you a decent ball that will go long and hook.

Thanks for the replies guys,

Ric, do u think this layout will be useful on any other lane conditions?  A 2" sounds interesting. I've never laid out anything even close to that.
