Fagan coming to town...
« on: September 09, 2005, 01:07:34 PM »
Not very often that Mike has the time with the tour and regionals to come bowl a NEBA...but we are having a "Masters" style tournament this weekend and he's making the trip up to my lanes along with the rest of the NEBA heavy weights.

Love watching him bowl, but I suppose if I'm in the tournament I won't have tons of time to admire it.  LOL

I don't have a video of him online, just the copy of the telecast he made a while back.

Yes, he has a low track in that his horizontal axis measurement is under 4"...but his track diameter is fairly large so he's not a spinner.  You just have to see his game to believe what he does with a ball...very unique to say the least.

Well, here was a thread about him.  Some info about him, just to give you a little insight.

who cares about Fagan?  What has he done except for making 1 TV show in 3 years?  He's lucky to be even on a staff of any company.  Are you guys so impressed that you'll come to watch Fagan bowl?

Great roster of people I saw bowling the tournament- unfortunately I couldn't bowl due to a family party that my wife and I were throwing for my daughter (her 1st adoption anniversary). Maybe next year the NEBA Masters will fall on a different weekend so I can bowl it.

Goof1073 give us an update on how the tournament goes when you get a chance.

Matt...

Just got home after sticking around to see the entire tournament run its course.  The tournament itself was based on two 5 game blocks on 2 different patterns per block (one short / one long) with a third in-between shot for the double elimination match play.  Like others I had my ups and downs, missed the cut (like Fagan and Alex)...but I did enjoy myself.  The shots weren't exactly what they had hoped and the scores were higher, but it was well run like all NEBA's and I thought it went very well.  64 bowlers showed up to bowl and 16th place for match play was +212.  The amount of raw talent that was present in this tournament was amazing when you stood back and looked at it.  You had guys like Fagan, Brian B. (Master Champion), Steve Hardy (ABC tournament all events record holder) and a host of regional / top amateur bowlers in this area.

After everything was said and done Steve Hardy took home the title and 2.5k.  There were some lessons learnt being that this tournament was the 1st annual masters for NEBA, but I'm sure that it will be a yearly event.

On a side note:

I actually bowled with Fagan for a game and I still can't figure out how he does what he does to a bowling ball.  Just effortless rev's and how he doesn't have to drift way right with his feet, but still can play very deep and swing the ball...

...amazing!

Alex Cav. is one sick bowler too.  I remember him dominating JBTs when he was like 14.  As a matter of fact, the first scratch cut I ever made when I was about 16 I drew him first match of matchplay.  I was scuured.

He was personable enough towards me and he knows a good amount of people that bowl NEBA.
