Johnnie Petraglia wins the PBA Senior Dayton Classic to be the 1st bowler in history to win a National Title in 6 different decades.

This is truly a great moment in the history of professional bowling.......65 year old Johnny Petraglia winning a PBA Senior National tournament.

However, let us not forget that Dick Weber was 75 years old when he won a PBA Senior Regional title in 2005

These are the only two players to win a PBA title in six(6) different decades. The only other player who has a chance to equal this feat is Dave Soutar. Soutar has won a PBA title in the 60's, 70's 80's, 90's, and the 2000's. He has announced that this is his last year bowling on the PBA Senior Tour so he still has a chance.

The difference between Weber and Petraglia is that Petraglia's six decade wins were all national titles, Weber's last one, as you said, was a regional.  I was there, the announcer was careful to say "the only bowler to win a national title in six decades".  --  JohnP

It will be interesting to see if Petraglia can win a PBA event in another 10 years.

As I've reflected on this over the past few days, it strikes me as a tragedy that this accomplishment has not transcended the Bowling world. Johnny's accomplishment is a modern day athletic success story that rivals any other. Where is the national sports media? Why have we not seen this covered in an appropriate manner, providing the man with the recognition he deserves? Congratulations johnny!

THAT is incredible.

Heard some people that saw him at the Orlando tournament and they said he was throwing it STILL great.  The shot was a challenge that week for many of the lefties!  Not all.

They said he was still "battling" the pins as always!

Remember that bowling is not considered a sport by, oh, I'd say, 80% of the population of the US.

Johnny is actually a nicer human being in person than he is a bowler, if that's at all possible.

I've been lucky enough to meet Johnny Petraglia and he was the 2nd nicest guy I ever met......Dick Weber still holds the #1 spot.
