I couldnt help myself, I love my Twisted Pearl, its always the first ball out of the bag, and I have HUGE success with it ever since I got it. Now that am I am going to be Bowling in college, I was looking for something would be able to handle more oil. We got 2 Twisted Fury Solids in and I hand picked the 2-3 pin, 3oz of top, punched it up pin under ring, cg right of the palm.
I threw 4 games to try it out, 38ft house shot, with prolly 10-20 games from open bowlers.
First off, ball rolls amazing. One thing that surprised me the most, was even though the ball is dull OOB, it didnt take off as soon as the ball encountered dry. It was great as it smooth in, through, and off the dry. Unbelievably predictable. Easily the most predictable I have ever thrown. As soon as the ball comes off your hand and gets about 20-30 feet down, you cant tell exactly what its going to do. It didnt overreact UNLESS you practically came up the buttcrack of the ball, in which it obviously got into a roll way too early.
I will say one thing I had a HORRIBLE problem with, and that was strong 10 pins. I would move all over trying to find a line into the pocket that would carry, and it just didnt not want to kick the 10 pin out unless you came in high flush. I just overall seemed to hit too hard, and the 6 would wrap around the 10. One thing that kind of disappointed about.
But still overall, great ball. Its predictability makes it an instant favorite. The Twisted Fury Pearl and the Twisted Fury solid will definitely become a popular 1-2 punch.

What took you so long? Just kidding.
On the 10 pin thing, try smoothing out the surface some. Mine's now at about 2000 and the carry percentage went up dramatically.

Wow Chrispy,
I was just going to post the same thing. I punched one up yesterday afternoon to go with my TF pearl and I had the same reaction you did. I drilled it identical to my pearl in the hopes that it will be more aggresive than the pearl and it is. I did not have a problem with the 10 pin I had more issues with 7 pins than anything else. I realized I needed to play deeper inside with the solid rather than the pearl. I also have mine drilled pin under bridge with the MB about 2 1/2" right of thumb. I am really happy with it so far though I have not thrown it yet in league that will come next week.

Once had a ball like that(very consistent)...it eventually wore me out.
Brunswick Pro Zone Violet. Second favorite ball of all time. Couldn't miss the pocket, carried everything LIGHT, and then when I would flush the pocket (to my eye) it would wrap a vicious 7 pin. Many a private match or tourney I had 279 or 258 with the only leaves ringing 7s.
Wore me out! Sold it to a righty...he drilled mirror and he said it wrapped 10s for him and wore him out. Many a night when I can't find the pocket now I wish for it...
Drilled with a 1 1/2 inch pin out...stacked under ring for my 5 1/4 up 1/8 pap.
From watching the Twisted on the Brunswick videos I see a similar move with a little less midlane. To me of the balls of today that is most similar I see is the Columbia Noize. People keep forgeting this ball is a medium lower flare ball accounting for it's fairly straight trajectory thru the mids unless set up a LOT stronger.(I think Brunswick says this in their original Twisted pearl video). A ball movement from the past that is similar is the Icon 2.

Pin below ring, cg above and right of thumb, MB is below and right of thumb. Pin, CG, and MB are almost perfectly lined up too, CG is just millimeters out of line. Also, NO weight holes or anything in that sort.

I threw it again today for another 15 or so games, spanned out across the day to see how it reacts to increased carrdown.
On the fresh shot, the money line seemed to be standing on 3rd dot from the right and getting it out between 5 and 10. About 10-15 percent of the shots left 10 pins, and almost all of them were results of the 6 pin wrapping around the 10. The others were girl scouts that didnt make it across the deck in time or missed it in front or behind. 5 games: 201, 220, 244, 193, 279.
Next 5 games had about 10-20 games on them with house balls. Simply put, I moved in 1 dot on the approach and moved the target to 4-7. Suprisiingly enough, I probably left less 10 pins with this angle and slight carrydown.
5 games: 190, 268, 256, 209, 217.
Last 5 games had about 25-40 games with houseballs on them. Moved to far dot on the right, played up 1-3(4-7 or so would make it to the pocket, but it resulted in very light hits which left 2-4-8-10's and 2-8-10's). The ball seemed to be the most smoothest off the breakpoint here, it surpised me that it didnt hit the dry and go straight into a roll.
5 Games: 233, 212, 218, 279, 238.
Like I said, had the ball kicked about 5 or so 10 pins in that set of 15 games, I probably would have shot 300. This ball is still the most smooth and predictable ball I have ever thrown. Absolutely ridiculous.
I leave to start college tomorrow, cant wait. I will be bowling for MSU, and I cant wait to let this beast loose on some tougher shots, especially with its predictablility.
Thanks for reading,
Chrispy

Nice cover statement Ric...
I have heards the same and seen the same from a couple of others regarding the Solid. What he was saying (IMHO)is that there were shots that came off his hand and he felt should have struck that left the 10. For some players what I have seen is that the ball motion looks great but the result at the deck is not what you would expect.

Why is it that just because the guy reps a ball company people want to disrespect his vast wealth of knowledge? I'd take Hamlin's advice and information any and every time over 100% of the jackasses on this board. It doesn't matter to me that he works for Big B and I prefer Hammer equipment, he still has forgotten more about the game than I'll ever know.

My nominee for post of the year. Thank you K-Dawg77.

Amen, Rico...
If the guys on tour (who throw it well more often than not) can't ALWAYS carry the corners, why should we be any different? Sometimes we're just not going to strike every shot, even on easy conditions.

K-Dawg77, that goes for me too. Ric is correct in what he says and said.

Maybe taking a different tack...is there anything you believe he could do to up his carry...if he believes it is below other balls he owns.
Switch balls? Change surface, change release hand position.
I remember once being at one of these demo days and was wrappin the 7 over and over and the guy gave me a small hand position change and it went the other way. (OF COURSE he had the advantage of being right next to me and watching me, the ball, and the lanes and the carry problem.

My first post.
Try the surface at around 2000. If you don't like it you can always adjust it back, or try Rough Buff, etc. 2000 made a big difference for me...

I quit going pin down with Brunswick the last few months. Since the balls have got stronger pin above bridge to me is what pin below was a few years back.

Could be a valid point, Dean, but it depends on the bowler's PAP, etc.
I, on the other hand, drill almost everything pin below, then adjust the surface to match up with the conditions. There is no "one layout" that will be great for everyone due to the individual characteristics we all have as we bowl. Good luck, Chrispy. You'll find a happy medium.

Your post completely makes sense Ric, I appreciate it. I guess I just didnt understand why the ball would obliterate the pocket 5 or 6 shots in a row and the next shot would be a pancake flat 7-10, you know what I mean?
Dean, I look forward to bowling witht you too. Right now we are in the works with getting a sponsorship with brunswick, which really would change much for me since I have all Brunswick stuff. As the layout you described, I had a Dead Flush drilled like and Loved it. On the other hand, it died after 30 games, lol. Also, Im guess you know Daniel Farish? tell him Chris Brown said hi...
notclay, after a few practices I will try changing it to 2000 and see what it does. For right now, Im trying to get used to a ball that is sooooo predictable, lol...

Very good points made by Ric in this thread. I also value your opinion in many cases. I intend to throw nothing but Brunswick and Columbia from now on, but if I can it will be more Brunswick. These two companies just have my attention right now. Anyways, it's because of this thread that I may end up getting a TFS for a next step up from my Rival especially be I liked very controllable equipment, and although I prefer smooth over snappy it seems like the TFS is a happy medium between the two with clean movement in front and a nice kick in the back. This is based off of Brunswick's video and what has been said in this thread, seems accurate to me.
