First impressions of Rampage and Absolute
« on: November 23, 2005, 05:34:08 PM »
I tried out my new balls after the women's league was finished tonight.  I was hammering the pocket with the Rampage, so I decided to start an actual game.  I ended up rolling a 298, my highest game ever.  I bowled 4 more decent games with the Rampage and then shot 246 in my only game with the Absolute.  Both balls turned the corner hard and gave me lots of room.  I didn't have to worry about either of them carrying if I threw a good shot.  The Absolute (drilled 1L) was just a touch stronger than the Rampage (similar to 3E).  I have a feeling the Absolute will get stronger once the Activator+ w/ Rough Buff tracks up a little bit.

I've probably put 250-300 games with the Absolute Inferno since March when I bought the ball and it continues to be strong. I've won my money 10 times over for what I paid for this ball through tournament bowling alone.

I got a chance to use the new balls in my men's league tonight.  I started with the Absolute, but I switched to the Rampage once it started checking up early.  Due to a lot of user error, I only shot like 570.  We had to make up for the games we are going to miss over christmas break, so I had a chance for redemption. I stayed with the Rampage and shot 268, 197, 276 for 741.  I couldn't carry the second game for some reason.  I never had worse than a 9 count though, so I easily covered all the spares.

I don't know if I should thank Brunswick for the great ball or if Brunswick should thank me since 4 or 5 more people are buying a Rampage after seeing me throw it.

I seconded twoheadedboy and MSC2471 comments. In my opinion, AI is a much better ball then the Rampage, I had a few problems with mine initially, ball was overhooking but after having it polished, it become a monster, once it hit the pocket, pins were running for their life...My buddy playing on the condition with me using the Rampage and he left quite a number of single pins...

I love my rampage, its great on med as it should be, and on a THS. Handles some carrydown decently also.

Pin under bridge, with a fairly deep flare reducing weight hole. Rolls very hard, no jump or flip, incredible once it hits the pocket.

My absolute is eh... so so. I need to adjust the surface, currently im happy with my 1-2 THS punch. Rampage, Bullet.

I think the Rampage is the sleeper of the year so far. Good thru the front with a hard hitting break at the end. It plays so much like my Nemesis that it is hard to believe it is a pearl. It just hasn't really caught on around in my area yet.

Now the Absolute is a different story as I see quite a few of those around the ball returns here. The one I own never quits on the back even with a flatter release.
