Also looking to try something new...
« on: February 17, 2005, 10:26:14 PM »
Wassup all?

I am looking to branch out and try new ball companies. I used to throw mostly Track stuff, but want to see what I am missing out on. I have all of my info in my profile along with the current lineup and how they are drilled.

My thoughts are to try either a Zone Classic or an Absolute Inferno, but I dont know if either will overlap with what I currently have. Let me know what you guys think and give drill recommendations too.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Rock,

What reaction on which lane condition are you looking for?

Based on your choice, ZC and AI, I would say you are looking for skid/flip?

I haven't had the opportunity to throw the ZC, but my AI is very flippy.  I have been debating whether or not to try the ZC...

Let us know what it is that you are looking for...

Actually, I want something that is more controllable and arcs. I want a control ball that I can use to play up the boards with. I already have the Xception and that ball has lots of flip to it. Let me know what you recommend.

The bruiser is a good control ball.

For control, I would say the Bruiser for med(out of box), dull it will handle heavier mediums.  If you are looking for something controllable on the lighter side, I would say the Slay/r.

Again, you can drill any ball to be controllable or flippy.  But the characteristics of the ball could make a difference.  I believe in playing to the strength of the ball.

Well, as for the conditions I usually see, its a med oil THS but it breaks down quickly. I really wanted to try something from the Inferno line but it appears all of those balls are too aggressive, especially with my high track and forward roll release. Everything I throw starts up early. I cant find anything that I can play up the boards with.

Rock77: I know 2 guys in my league that throw the Intense Inferno on my short oil THS and they can play down and in off the gutter fine with no overreaction. The layout for their Intense Infernos is exactly as Agroves described...

How about the Punisher?  Wouldn't that be a good ball for playing the straighter shot, and have a more angular backend reaction?  It might be worth a look.

True, but Rock is looking for control.  So, the punisher or II would be good choices, you could also drill it 2 x 2 to control the backend.

Hmmmm, all these choices and decisions. I may venture into a Punisher. I was also looking into a Goliath for the soup. Any experiences with a Goliath??
