Am I the only nation member who doesn't want an AI?
« on: February 19, 2005, 04:09:37 AM »
I talked with my pro shop guy at length the other day, and his feelings are that since the Ultimate and the Raging didn't do much for me, but that I liked the original, that the AI probably wouldn't be a good choice. I'm more than willing to follow his advice - right now $$ is pretty tight, and I have to make good decisions.

Anyone else come to the same conclusion, or has the hype over this ball taken over everyone else's mind???

BTW - I am in NO MEANS anti Brunswick. My main bag right now is ALL Big B. There just isn't an Absolute in it.

I'm not totally sure. Truthfully I only have an intense, so I am not sure about the others. I do really want to give it a shot though. I doubt I will but it still looks nice. I'd follow the advice your given though.

What i'm trying to figure out, is what does you, not liking the ultimate or raging, have to do with the absolute?  They're completely different.

My thought is that, if you don't NEED it, if all spots are filled, just keep your money.

I want one, but i have all spots filled, so i probably won't get one.  I'd have to sell other stuff before i'd get one, which i dont' want to do.

I was under the impression that the Absolute was similar in reaction to the original...maybe a little longer and little stronger (same core... polished pearl cover) so therefore wouldn't be similar to the raging/ultimate.  Initial reports from all are excellent (although I bought a Yeah Baby! which had good reviews and absolutely hated it!).  I buddy just drilled up two of them... one with pin in the center of his grip and cg out and the other with pin stacked above ring finger.  the stacked one goes a long ways and really flips on the backend... the other is a smooth arcing reaction...  they both seem to hit and carry well... seem versatile.  I'm excited to drill mine up!  the question becaomes... as andy pointed out.... do you have a hole to fill or need to replace something?

Yes, I am with you on this one. I have the Impluse Zone. I was wanting an Absolute but in looking at the numbers of what both the Absolute and Impulse do, for what ever reason I could not see what I would gain by buying an Absolute. It was very difficult, but somehow I refrained from buying the Absolute as I wanted that ball really bad. However, my head kept telling me to get something different that I would use and eliminate the potential problem of either the Absolute or Impluse spending at least half the time in my bag doing nothing when either one would work, so I bought a ball from another company. I posted a Topic about it in that company's column. I will probably get beat up for writing this, but I don't care as I love the ball I bought more than any other ball in my bag.

I'm currently building my main arsenal on the Absolute, that new one I just drilled is freaking awesome when I need something to just HOOK and roll.

Give it some time... It'll sink its teeth in you.

If I didn't already have an Impulse Zone, I'd be giving the Absolute a serious look.  However, I can't really justify getting an Absolute;  too much overlap with stuff already in the bag.

Of course, this is coming from the person who said that two asymmetrical Zones in the bag were enough.

I have a Warp Zone and a Nemesis in my bag. I can wait til the summer to buy an AI. I'm sure you can too...

However, since I seem to get on well with that core, if I can't get the Zone Classic to carry maybe I will just pick up an Absolute after all. Man are they selling like hot cakes around here. My driller sold a dozen already this week with more to follow. Amazing what TV exposure does for a ball (not to mention good word of mouth via this forum). Brunswick isn't very strong around here (Storm's the king) and maybe the Absolute will bring them back into prominence.

We shall take to the streets, hand out cookies, give the barmaids Nation T-shirts and let everyone know what we are capable of!
