Well since watching a couple of friends throw it, and Sean Rash on tv, i thought i'd give this ball a shot.. Liked the motion they got out of it..
PAP : 4 9/16" X 1" up
Revrate : Around 400 rpm
Normal speed : Around 18-19 mph
Drilled :
Pin to Pap : 5 1/4
CG : 45*
Still needs an X-hole to get it to legal.. Has 1/4 ounce too much sideweight.. Plan on putting the X-hole in my PAP..
Tried it at our house today on 2 different patterns..
Lanes..: System 300
Conditioner : Brunswick - Absolute Control
Cleaner : Brunswick - Invincible
Oilmachine : Kegel - Kustodian ION
Pattern 1:
Length : 33 ft
Total oilvolume : 18 ml
Shape of pattern : Tophat, with very little buff at the end of the pattern.. First 4 boards dry..
Similar to : Cheetah
Pattern 2:
Length : 40 ft
Total oilvolume : 23 ml
Shape of pattern : Crown, lots of oil at the end of the pattern and a lot of "hang" on the outside..
Similar to : More like Scorpion than Shark
Well on Pattern 1, i started out with a laydownboard at 8 and trying to get it to the 2/3 board.. I found the Total to be too much ball for me when playing the "far" outside on such a short pattern.. I was just not able to consistantly be soft enough with my release to control it from out there.. Just a little pressure or inconsistancy on the fingers and the ball would just either stand up and pass the headpin or just take of and head west.. I could move a couple of boards deeper and project the ball to the outside with a little more succes, but it would still be too over/under when playing that "deep" in the oil..
If i were to take the cover down to maybe 2000 Abralon, i think i'd get a better look with that ball..
How Sean kept that ball in the 1-3 amazes me.. But then again, that's why he's the pro with 3 Denny's titles and i'm not.. Lol.. I wonder what the surface was on his ball..
On Pattern 2, i started with a laydownboard at 17 with my breakpoint at 12.. Well the pattern plays pretty tight, i had some trouble adapting my speed in the beginning after 30 mins on the short pattern.. My first couple of shots were 3-counts or gutters..
When i got that out of the system i could see that this ball could fit perfectly for me on this type of pattern.. The ball would read midlane nicely, pick up a roll and finish in a strong, yet controllable arc in the backend.. I could move a couple of boards out and also deeper with good results.. Maybe the X-hole or a slight surface change could make it better, since it had a bit too much push in the front on fresh..
Overall i think i'll be using this ball a lot.. Gets good length, excellent midlane read, strong controllable backend and a great hit and mix in the pins.. Just what i hoped for..
I'm looking forward to throwing it at our Regional Championships this weekend..
2 thumbs up to Big B for another great product..
Just my 2 cents..
Hope i didn't bore U too much.. Lol..
Peace
