Forever Filling The Gap
« on: April 26, 2012, 04:02:11 PM »
Still can't find a in between ball.

Nexus Solid 4000
CSystem 4.5 500 w/ Rough Buff
Slingshot 4000 w/ Factory Finish

Want to get rid of the 4.5 and need something in between.

Thoughts?

I understand you posted this in the Brunswick forum but there are more than enough balls out there to fill the gap throughtout all the companies.

If you aren't on staff or getting paid to throw their stuff, there is honestly zero reason to limit yourself.

I disagree, i would stick with Brunswick if you are comfortable with the reaction
of their equipment. Keeping the number of cores and covers to a minimum keeps
Bowling as simple as possible.

Just my thoughts

How is one "limiting one's self" by using only Brunswick with the excellent equipment in the Big B line up?  Curious.

Mainzer,

There is a very big difference between being comfortable with a brand, and having the best option in your bag. I'm not even going to touch upon the lack of choices in the brunswick line up right now.. (wait guess I just did).

I'm not knocking Brunswick at all, but when you have every ball reaction characteristic, core and cover available to you, why limit yourself when you aren't getting paid or at least on a staff deal?

Plus, I would put the challenge that someone having a variety of equipment will fair much better than someone with strictly one brand over a long run of tournaments.

I'll make this very simple:

Because other brands can create reactions that no layout or surface adjustments can create on a brunswick ball and vise versa.

You're forgetting the bowlers ability and skill to make fewer pieces of equipment work.......

Nose, there was no reason to take this thread that didn't specify "only brunswick" and automatically make it out to be that way, bash the brand, and post no helpful choices to fill that spot! Bash them if you want, but at least answer the question.

Boss, it depends on the reaction you are looking for. if you like the rolly reaction you see with the nexus and brunswick in general, then perhaps a versa-max would be good. If you want something that truly bridges the very strong nexus and very weak slinghot, I'd check out maybe a massive damage or a karma solid which will be on the weaker side. Depends on what you don't like about the 4.5. If you're into other brands, the frantic looks to be a very good medium ball that you coudl do a lot with, and everything about the victory road series looks fantastic. Not familiar enough with any of the ebonite brands to suggest a good medium ball other than maybe the hybrid freeze.

 Good luck!

if you want to stay in the brunswick family, the versa max is the ball to get. if you're open to other companies i'd say either a crossroad/marvel pearl, elevate, or epidemic would fit nicely. that's a huge gap between the nexus and slingshot that many different types of balls could fill

I'll echo what others have said, no bag is complete without a Versa Max. Therefore, if you wanted to just replace the 4.5, I couldn't suggest the Versa Max any more. That being said, if you decide that you also want to add one more ball, I think a solid Karma or pearl Karma would fit nicely between the Versa and the Slingshot.

Asking about ball recommendations in a specific brand forum, don't you think that is the brand they want? I don't go to the Track forum to ask about Lane 1 balls.

From what I have seen every one of the big companies creates a ball for all reactions and conditions. To say that one companies is better than anothers is hard to prove.

I disagree with the last statment, to many covers and cores can create confusion when going from ball to ball in  tourney play. I would rather take two of the same ball one drilled strong and one drilled weak ball up or down as needed than go from company to company.

VERSA MAX!

Extremely versatile with cover changes. A ball that just READS the lane (I know, a novel concept).
