Drilled a new Fortera. Being a lefty, its important to have a piece that you can count on when your probably the only one on the side. This comment is solely the opinion of the bowler. Being a lefty, I encounter different and quick lane transitions. The Fortera allows me to resolve these. On a 43' , 2.5 to 1 ratio, I wanted to see the difference in reaction. On fresh oil, with a 45x3.5x40 pattern, the Exile gets smooth through the heads and has plenty to make the turn off the spot. I then drilled the same ball, same TW, 55x5x50. This ball really was calm off the spot. The backend got really messy and the Exile made it absolutely no problem. Do yourself a favor. Get an Exile and resolve your transitionproblems. #Team Brunswick is here to stay.

Jury still out on my Fortera. Drilled it the same as my Mastermind to play behind my Mastermind. Just not rolling good. Looks like it is burning up, which makes no sense. I am going to change the surface to match the Mastermind and see what happens.

Bring the surface up in increments starting with a new 2000 pad. These balls get incredible length and need some surface on slicker patterns. Jason Sterner told me he had a pin down ball reacting just as you described before scuffing it and now it works great. There has been success using this ball all the way up to 500 Siaair.

Thanks for the info. I will start the search. I was hesitant to change the surface but after two times out and the same result, I know its time.
Funny, the Mastermind has been killer for me anywhere that I can find oil. I ordered a genius immediately after throwing the Fortera the first time and not seeing the reaction I was looking for. The Genius came in today and it is the wrong weight so I guess I will play with the surface on the Fortera while I wait for the replacement Genius.

Chris is right. Surface will change your look. My Mastermind is great. After about 60+ games I put it in my revivor at the shop and it really made a difference. Since my first post, I took 500 and now the ball has really come alive. It's amazing how surface can effect a reaction that much.

Chris is correct in that the fortera exile is very clean through the front part of the lanes. I have heard from other staffers that a 2000 pad brought theirs to life and gave them the reaction they were expecting.

I believe surface is everything with this piece. I took it to 1000, no compound. Bourbon Street, played tight and the ball was really strong on the backend. Was plus 136 after 6. Love the ball.

I tried it at 500/1000 no polish. Definitely rolled better. I carried anything close to the pocket. I was bowling behind house bowlers using plastic all over the place and never really got comfortable.
I will know more Sunday night. If all goes well, I will get to see how it plays behind my Mastermind, if the need arises.

I finally settled in with my Fortera at 500/4000/4000 (second 4000 with worn pads) with no polish. It has saved me a couple of times during the third game where the heads were gone, too much carry down and the track was dry. I get good carry and the ball is still controllable enough to deal with the over under.
Now, if I can get my timing back right and free up my swing a little, I will be able to maximize the ball's potential.
