Vapor zone, or the 1 or big 1
« on: February 19, 2006, 05:45:25 PM »
I'm planning on purchasing one of these balls. I've heard mixed reviews about the one and have seen lots of people using it. I've read lots of good things about the big one, as well as the vapor zone.

After scuffing up my Smokin inferno with grey scotch brite, I still have trouble even getting it to the pocket. I feel I don't have enough revs to throw brunswick equipment. So I'm wary about the vapor zone. Will that ball be much more agressive than the smokin? My smokin is drilled 2L and I'm a low rev low/medium speed player.

However, I'm really looking into those ebonite balls. Mainly the big one. Suggestions here would help.

All of the balls you mentions are very hot right because they are GREAT balls.  If you get a VZ it would definatly be more then your smokin, prollyby about 7-10 boards. The one has a completely differnt roll then the vapor but it is pretty similar is overall hook. The big one is more then both of them and its starts earlier as well with more of a conitnuous arc on the back end then a skip/flip like with the other 2. If you want something that you can move alot deeper then with ur smoking, get a big one. If you just want a kind of similar reaction to ur smokin but more, get the VZ.

I just want a ball with a stronger move to the pocket than my SI. Actually a much stronger move and a ball that will actually make it and not give me over and under. I feel the strike zone to be a little too condition specific.

Vapor Zone would be an excellent choice. If drilled similar to your Smokin, the Vapor will start up much sooner and be smoother through the pins (not as violent at the breakpoint compared to a Smokin). The One is a very good ball as well but is much stronger overall than a Smokin. The Big One is stronger (for the most part) than a Strike Zone even, so I would definately rule that one out. Vapor or even an Ambush/Nemesis out of the BVP line could work well also. Talk to your driller about these options and go with what you both think is best for your game (speed/revs/axis tilt/etc)

VAPOR ZONE, sorry for yelling. What other answer would you expect in the Brunswick forum?

The VZ is all I am throwing now. I haven't found a condition in our house that it doesn't work. Fresh oil or carrydown, it makes no difference.

BTW, I am also a low rev, medium speed bowler.

For myself, the Vapor Zone is much stronger on the backend than the Smokin Inferno. It will read the lanes earlier than your SI and handle carrydown better. My VZ is weaker on oil than my Big One and a little more angular than the Big One. I think from the SI to the Big One would be a BIG jump up in the arsenal line. Vapor Zone should give you what you need and then some.

I got it today. A vapor zone in 16 lbs with a 1 3/4 inch pin. Just threw seven games with it. Strongest Brunswick ball I've ever thrown and I haven't even thrown em all. Very strong midlane in this ball and consistant (but not too impressive) backend.

I was allowed to throw this ball hard up the seven board and hit the rack very hard. I've had loud strikes and have heard noises that I've never heard before when I hit the pocket, which is good. I can't wait to try this ball out at league night.

As you all can see now, I'm in a bowling ball buying frenzy right now. The One, big one are still in my sights.

I have the same experience with my Vapor Zone. The pins seem to explode when you throw a good ball. The noise is louder and the pins much more lively than any ball I have ever thrown.

In comparison, my Hot Rod, which I use on drier lanes, makes a sharp "crack" with very few messengers even though it is a strike.
