Fried lanes

I was bowling for practice today at my usual house, which hasn't put any oil out on the lanes in 3 days because there are no leagues or tournaments going on anymore.  Needless to say, the lanes were completely fried.  The only equipment I have that works at all on that type of shot is not very good.  I ended up trying to throw a loft shot with my Zone Classic most of the time, and then tried to throw my Storm Triple X (heresy, I know).

I don't see this type of condition at all when I'm bowling competitively, but I still don't enjoy throwing terrible games.  What Brunswick balls have you guys had success with on fried lanes?

Dry/R is the best bet in the current line-up (a fiedm of mine with a low track had very goood success with it in a highly polished finish).

Another good ball for dry shots is the Zone Classic Red Pin, very mild coverstock, even though they get hard to find.

If there is still some oil in the heads, the "normal" PK 17 pearl recative Power Grooves are also tough things to consider. Drill it weak, and it is an ultima ratio ball when you have some hand and speed (Brunswick pattern 4E).

Even though the Punisher is marketed as a ball for medium-dry conditions, it is IMHO too much and too nervous for fried lanes. A PG is easier to control (and cheaper). It is good for short patterns, though, but you need some oil.

I use my Monster Slayr for these type of conditions.  Bad news is I see this type of crap all the time.
