Replacement for Demolition Zone
«
on:

The wife is finally ready to let this one retire. What ball in Big "B"'s current line would have some similar characteristics as the Demolition Zone?
Thanks in Advance
PS - If someone has a #14 with few miles on it, sing out!

That thing was AWESOME!
Medium rg(low 2.5 zone. And great movement!
The current lineup in symmetric cores has the super low rg Copperhead and the similar rg and diff Swarm(but instead the solid PK 18 it is pearl version!).
The closest I've seen in the past few years would be the Absolute Inferno with Rough buff...or the Awesome Finish from Morich(with Pk18 I think).

PS have seen nothing just like that great solid ball! Loved that Demo!

If you're going like for like, it looks like a Swarm should serve her well:
Same cover, similar numbers in terms of hook rating and RG, slightly lower diff, so might be worth drilling a fraction stronger.

ie swarm pearl vs solid for demo.
A great ball in the solid variety were the BVP Wizard and BVP Nemesis!

From the current balls, it is hard to find a good match. The Swarm has a similar core, but is PK18 pearl, and the Copperhead has a lower RG, a bit less differential and comes sanded, but it is PK18 solid. My bet would go on a Copperhead with a coat of polish. I think you can make good use of the lower RG due to (by tendency) slicker lane conditions than some years ago.
The Awesome Finish as well as the Solid LevRG use both PK18 solid or close derivates - but I'd be careful due to the cores. The Solid LevRG looks very close in specs, though, and its core is not as aggressive as the AFi's low RG Vanguard core - even though it will still need an asymmetrical layout. If it should be a MoRich ball, I'd rather gor for the Solid LevRG and maybe also add some polish to the surface (it comes at 4.000 Abralon).
