Fury surface?

OK, just got a Fury for my wife. She is a stroker (low revs, 16MPH) and this ball is drilled 4x3-ish for her.

Has anyone had any experience with this ball? I need this to be her first ball for a while cause I moved her down in weight and she won't have another ball anytime soon.

Can anyone give me any input...We bowl on a normally medium THS, but it may need to work somewhat on slightly drier or slicker lanes...and carry is an issue as well.

Anything would be great! Thanks.

The original black Fury?  That's a fairly strong, rolly solid, and it sounds like it's got a fairly strong drill on it.  I'm going to guess Alicia would like this ball better with a polished surface.  Maybe hit it with 1000 abralon then polish it, see how it rolls, and if you want more backend, take it up to 2000 abralon then polish it.  (Curious, what weight did she switch to?)

Should work out fine for her on medium oily through medium dry.  My Fury is drilled similarly and it's pretty versatile.  I'm a stroker also, though I throw a bit faster than your wife.  I can still start and finish league with mine with the usual adjustments, though being a lefty I don't have other people burning up my oil.

She moved from 15 to 14. She was having wrist/thumb issues. She has been remeasured a couple times, so I figure it's time to move her down in weight...I was thinking 2000 then polished...but I don't have a ball like that, so I am unsure. Well, except my Pluto...which isn't a Fury, lol.

Right now it is 600 with polish...I think...I was gonna refinish it tonight before league and give it another coat, but still not too sure of the underfinish...

OK, 14's probably a good weight for her.  And bear in mind what works for you surface and drilling-wise probably won't work for her.  Her rev rate is probably one half or even one third of yours.  Us lower rev bowlers usually need a little extra surface to get the ball to pick up in the midlane and rev up on the backend.

I'd say try around 500-600 plus a polish, just not a high gloss polish at  first. Maybe something like Rough Buff compound as a first try.

You can always adjust to more shine later, if needed, but I try to err on the side of "too aggressive" rather than have someone throwing "darts" at the pocket. For what it's worth, most of the Furys we drilled ended up between 2000 abralon or "some" shine with surface underneath as has been suggested.

Out of the box the ball was a bit too early for most women, and it didn't carry as well until the surface adjustments were made. Good luck and keep us posted.
