FURY what a waste.
« on: June 04, 2007, 03:49:22 PM »
Hey i just got a fury and it sucks. My TNV with tommy layout has the same overall hook as it. The fury has a more of an arc but in no way could i use this ball in oil. I am a pretty good bowler with alot of revs

I threw it in shark pattern and it slid the whole way. I am going for a mammoth now.

Well not too many bowling balls hook much on Shark...

If you want to see your fury hook go throw it on THS...or anything less than Shark.

if anyone has a 15lb mammoth i will trade heads up for it if it is in pretty good condition. I can get the ball plugged no problem.

Maybe it isn't the ball, but maybe you need to know where to play the pattern...? Possible?

FBM,

But he's a "pretty good bowler with alot [sic] of revs", so it MUST be the ball....

JShiff,

Maybe you need to try a few different ball speeds and lines to the pocket before you put judgement on the Fury. I usually point my ball on board 17 at the arrows with a breakpoint around board 13-14 on a fresh flat and long pattern. And I focus on relexing my swing as much as possible in order to give the ball a chance to go into a roll and find the friction in the backend.

The Fury is a mighty strong ball and you should be able to make it work on the Shark. I for one agree with Brunswick: "With its 800-grit wet sand surface, the FURY matches up well on most medium to oily house conditions."

I thought the same way when I first drilled up mine, but after chatting with Ric Hamlin, and trying different surfaces, and than a different drill pattern I finally found a reaction I like, so, keep experimenting with cover first, then try a different lay out

Keep trying with the coverstock . Example I had problems with my red zone. Took it back to the proshop. Explain the oil pattern to them, Where I was playing.
They gave me some suggestions. They put burgundy scotch pads to it. Ball react the way I want it.

Wrong surface touchy ball, right surface one of the best balls made, you condemn the ball with no surfaces changes. Your money to throw away but you have made no changes and slam the ball, i have disliked a few recent balls but after 4-6 surface changes.

One ball the No Mercy was total junk for me, i hated that ball with a Passion which is another ball i got rid of about 5 surfaces.

The Fury burns oob and with about 1000-2000 surface with no polish for me becomes a very consistent hooking ball.

If your TNV w/TJ layout is hooking about the same as your Fury, you don't have enough oil on the lanes to heave the ball react properly. Fresh oil doens't mean heavy oil

Keep looking... I'm sure there's a 300 in ALL of those balls you keep buying if you throw them right!!

SIGNATURE FIXED !!  LOL!

I think Inverted crushed the nail with a sledge hammer.  You gotta have enough oil for this ball, specially with the box surface.  I wet sanded mine with 500 then 1000 Abralon, no polish, it still hooks more than anything I have.

Are you bowling on wood?  Shark on wood is not necessarily a slick condition, at the Tour Trials this week, I couldn't use my Fury.  Used my Lane #1 G Force for about 2+ games, then had to ball down, used my lovely Eraser Particle Pearl, love that ball.

You gotta have enough oil for that ball it is very aggressive.  That has to be the problem if you have it hooking the same as a "trick" drilled Total NV.  That is a weak layout for control.

Don't give up on the Fury, it is an awesome ball.

Hey Jshiff,

Inverted 1 and Mike Austin have it dead on.  It's about the friction we're able to create.  Sorry, but back to my analogy of all season tires to snowtires/chains.  On light snow, our all season tires will actually spin up and lose friction, when it encounters friction, the car "jumps" and fishtails, right?  Fishtailing translates into a strong or severe movement....

Now imagine snow tires/chains on our car on the same road condition and the car maintains a nice smooth transition from snow to dry road....constant friction.  Constant friction translates into a much smoother reaction and depending how much you are able to get the object to get into a "stored" energy phase, the object will look or present itself very smoothly.

This is what the Fury offers as Bob Hanson states as well.  Any piece that can offer early friction translates into reduced or minimal "backend" reaction.  Hope this helps explain some....I'm in the Track forum mainly but just try to help where I can.

well i get alot of my equipment for free so it was just a waste of time, not money. money isnt an issue, i thought this ball would be suited for oil but when i saw it slide threw oil like the way it did it disapointed me. I even tried ruffing up the surface of the ball and it helped a little bit, but it wasnt what i was looking for in a ball. The ball is getting 7 inches of flair and it isnt doing anything.

Maybe allow sometime for the coverstock to "break" in. I have a Fury with like 21 games and it is just getting to what I would want it to do.
