Maybe you need to try a few different ball speeds and lines to the pocket before you put judgement on the Fury. I usually point my ball on board 17 at the arrows with a breakpoint around board 13-14 on a fresh flat and long pattern. And I focus on relexing my swing as much as possible in order to give the ball a chance to go into a roll and find the friction in the backend.
The Fury is a mighty strong ball and you should be able to make it work on the Shark. I for one agree with Brunswick: "With its 800-grit wet sand surface, the FURY matches up well on most medium to oily house conditions."

They gave me some suggestions. They put burgundy scotch pads to it. Ball react the way I want it.

One ball the No Mercy was total junk for me, i hated that ball with a Passion which is another ball i got rid of about 5 surfaces.
The Fury burns oob and with about 1000-2000 surface with no polish for me becomes a very consistent hooking ball.

I think Inverted crushed the nail with a sledge hammer. You gotta have enough oil for this ball, specially with the box surface. I wet sanded mine with 500 then 1000 Abralon, no polish, it still hooks more than anything I have.
Are you bowling on wood? Shark on wood is not necessarily a slick condition, at the Tour Trials this week, I couldn't use my Fury. Used my Lane #1 G Force for about 2+ games, then had to ball down, used my lovely Eraser Particle Pearl, love that ball.
You gotta have enough oil for that ball it is very aggressive. That has to be the problem if you have it hooking the same as a "trick" drilled Total NV. That is a weak layout for control.
Don't give up on the Fury, it is an awesome ball.

Inverted 1 and Mike Austin have it dead on. It's about the friction we're able to create. Sorry, but back to my analogy of all season tires to snowtires/chains. On light snow, our all season tires will actually spin up and lose friction, when it encounters friction, the car "jumps" and fishtails, right? Fishtailing translates into a strong or severe movement....
Now imagine snow tires/chains on our car on the same road condition and the car maintains a nice smooth transition from snow to dry road....constant friction. Constant friction translates into a much smoother reaction and depending how much you are able to get the object to get into a "stored" energy phase, the object will look or present itself very smoothly.
This is what the Fury offers as Bob Hanson states as well. Any piece that can offer early friction translates into reduced or minimal "backend" reaction. Hope this helps explain some....I'm in the Track forum mainly but just try to help where I can.

Interesting. A friend of mine (female) is also having the same promblem with her Fury. She tried it on the Shark pattern also and (same as yours) it is flaring like crazy but not moving much. She isn't rev challenged but certainly not big on revs either, mid to low ball speed also. I made her take the ball into the pro shop after league was over and have it sufaced to 1000 grit abralon (hers was scuffed up). It appeared to be flaring out a bit to me, i was not sure. I have not spoken with her since last week, but will find out how it worked out today. She bowled last night. What where the specs on yours prior to drilling, if you don't mind me asking?
