Got nowhere to go but up.  $17 this time last year....it was under $2 before Christmas....

I say they swing for the fences next season....if they hit a pop fly foul ball they are out for sure.  I dont care how deep B's pockets are before long the magnifying glass is coming out and they will cut their losses on the consumer product side.

Really. Gee I read on CNN news in a release from Brunswick that they do not see themselves reaching last years numbers and foresee more layoffs. Hmmm, this is a business you want to invest in? And when it's on an upward move?

Let me see, the wife says to me this morning, 'it looks like more friends may be gone the way things are going...' I said, what makes you think I have that many friends left there?

I at least bought it when it was around $1.90, try and cost average what I had...

I bought it back a few months at ~$3 a share. Looking good so far. I figured if I threw Big B, I should at least become a shareholder.

I had shares in Nortel Networks.....Twice. lol yes i got them when they were rising in 2000 and dropped them when they got past 130 a share. and about two years ago when they were devalued to 30 cents a share i bought them and sold them when they went to a dollar fifteen.

I was lucky, but alot of ppl weren't. Right now i feel comfortable with investments in bank stocks. Atleast Canadian bank stocks.

Brunswick posts loss sees no near-term rebound

quote:
* Reports $2.08 a share loss

* Sales down 45 percent

* Sees little hope of turnaround in 2009

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Brunswick Corp, the world's largest maker of recreational boats and marine engines, reported a quarterly loss Thursday as demand for pricey watercraft continued to suffer as a result of the economic downturn.

The company said it lost $184.2 million, or $2.08 a share, during the first quarter. During the comparable quarter last year, Brunswick reported a profit of $13.3 million, or 15 cents a share.

Sales fell 45 percent to $734.7 million. Even the company's smaller fitness, billiards and bowling businesses performed poorly.

Brunswick, which has already slashed its workforce and shut factories, said it was "not planning for any meaningful economic recovery in 2009" and said it expected to take additional restructuring actions. (Reporting by James B. Kelleher Editing by Brian Moss)
I don't know about the long term outlooks for Brunswick, but Brunswick's major business is recreational products.

In this economy, recreational expenditures is the first area people will cut back on.  Things will be getting a lot worse for Brunswick before the good things come around.

I was at the bowl last night and watched a Regional Staffer throw 2 proto types that will be coming out later this month. From what i seen these 2 will be fantastic. The comment was can it be released May 2nd because he was on his way to a Regional. I won't spill the Beans on the names and the cores at this time, but again the reaction of these 2 pieces was awesome!!!

Big B's legacy costs far outweigh its own value.

Kind of like how GM was: it's #1 business is to pay pension and healthcare costs to retired workers.

As far as value goes, I'll pass on this one and not look back.
