Wicked Siege Review on Viper Pattern
« on: November 20, 2010, 11:05:58 PM »
Here it finally is.  Had a heck of a time figuring out how to upload to You Tube.  Trying to upload the Microsoft Movie Maker file didn't work because of file compatibility.  I originally couldn't get the Movie Maker program to upload it because it wouldn't take my You Tube password, even though I was already logged in.  For some reason, mt GMail and You Tube accounts were linked.  As soon as I separated them, it worked.  Then it takes You Tube quite a while to process a 7 minute video...

Anyway, enjoy the video and be sure to post comments here on how to improve in the future.  It was my first time doing this, so be gentle.  I know I need more variation in camera angles, but sometimes you're at the mercy of the lanes.  People on both sides of you and not many flat places to put a camera.  I only have a mini tripod, so next time I'll need some boxes or something to get the camera higher.  A lot of the shots were at max zoom, so that's as much of a close up my camera can provide.  The link is also in my profile, so it can be watched after this post is forgotten.

Not bad Geoff!  Good first time video.  I am sure way better than I could do first time out.  What did you shoot it with?

I like the ball motion of the WS.

BTW....have your boys Penn State take out Michigan State next week please.

The camera is a Flip Video Ultra HD.  Windows Movie Maker is actually really easy to use.  Import the video(s), split it into chunks (each shot in essence becomes it's own video), then trim the unnecessary footage.  Add music if you want or leave the camera audio in place, then the software can automatically add the transitions.

PSU's quarterback play has improved, but they've never matched up well with MSU.  Should be an interesting three way race for the title.

Yep, that''s me.  I used to hate braces, but arthritis changed my mind.  It''s a Robby''s Revs in case anyone cares.

I wish every ball was a strike.  Actually, on Viper that day, every good delivery had a good result.  One 8 pin and one 7 pin were about my only pocket spares.  I don''t remember one 10 pin all day (unlike my THS league in High Point where I can ping 10 pins with every ball from every angle.  ).  I did want to show that it was a sport shot.  A few wide never had a chance for the head pin and a little left found the nose.  There is no magic ball that will cure LOFT.

I do want to do another showing multiple balls on the same pattern, but it will be a while.  Traveling to PA for the holidays, then to Louisiana the week after for business.

I don''t have a lot of equipment many can relate to (if anyone else wants to give away new, free, high end equipment, you know where to find me ), but I''d like to dull the Wicked Siege a bit and compare it to my Black Widow Bite on Scorpion, or maybe the box surface to compare it to my Silver Streak SE on Chameleon.  I''d love to overlay the two shots on top of eeach other like I''ve seen in other videos, but I doubt my software does that.  Maybe something on a house shot, but anywhere but High Point Bowling Center, because nothing looks good in my hands there.

Northside (where the video was taken) carries just fine.  High Point Bowling Center is my 10 pin hell.  Modified my last post so it was more clear.  Maybe carry is tough on a house shot at Northside, but it carries better than most places that I''m used to, at least on my sport league.

EJ, trust me when i tell you bowling at HPBC will make you miss Northside, house shot or sport shot!

Strider: Nice first vid, it looked really good on Viper. Mine was really good on Shark a couple weeks ago, but at HPBC you never know what any shot is gonna play like to be fair.

Im still contemplating a surface change or an x-tra hole. On flatter stuff like the Shark i bowled on, i had a decent look but i would like to see a little more continuation when i move deeper. The control was excellent for a flatter pattern, but once i had to move in, I needed a little better pop at the backend to carry.

Nice video. That ball looks like it has some great backend. It looks like it is really speed sensitive.

Please remember this is the Viper pattern. I believe the pattern is speed sensitive, not the ball.
