Title: Goliath-How is it for Medium oil conditions?
Post by: tcreevy on April 23, 2005, 02:11:26 AM: I am thinking of buying a Goliath. I bowl on Brunswick Avilane Medium Oil conditions.. I am concerned that it might start hooking too early and roll out before it hits the pins. If so,is this bowl appropraite? If yes, how shold I get it drilled? thanks,

Post by: twister on April 23, 2005, 10:29:37 AM: Remember, it's a high load particle, unless you put on a length drilling or polish it you will experience some loss of energy. You'd be better off with an Impulse Zone for mediums than a Goliath, but thats just my opinion.

Post by: DON DRAPER on April 23, 2005, 11:02:48 AM: the goliath would help tone down the over/under that is sometimes seen with reactive balls. on synthetic lanes the difference between the oily and dry parts of the lane is very abrupt. you could use the goliath wetsanded very smooth( 2,000 grit-4,000 grit ) and give it a try. additional length could be gained by using brunswicks factory finish high gloss polish.

Post by: JCLives on April 24, 2005, 09:04:40 PM: I have a Goliath drilled with the pin above the bridge and cg kicked a little right. The surface has been polished up to about 1500 grit. It works well on medium conditions (wood lanes).

Post by: dizzyfugu on April 25, 2005, 09:03:41 AM: Instead of a Goliath, maybe the Nemesis is a better choice? 800 grit PK 18 coverstock, has good grip and should not lose too much energy beyond the oil?

Post by: TheBowlingKid25 on April 25, 2005, 09:20:15 AM: I suggest this to EVERYONE, but if you want a smooth ball for mediums, pick up a Monster Bruiser. They are discontinued, so if you can find them, they are pretty cheap. I love mine! I'd buy a couple to stock up on if I had the money.
