Title: Got a chance of picking up a Zone Classic cheap
Post by: Bowler721 on April 20, 2006, 06:01:52 PM
So I have a chance at picking up a Zone classic(green pin) . Do you guys reckon I should get it?

What I have at the moment-
Scorchin Inferno-Stacked
Nemesis-4 1/2 p2p over fingers
Rampage-4 1/2 p2p over fingers
Battle Zone Bullet 4 1/2 p2p under fingers
Power Groove Dry/r 5 p2p over fingers

I have been wanting to try one, and not sure where it would fit. How would you drill it to fit in here.

Me:
Righty
5" over and 1/2" up.
Revs- ~320 Speed- 14-15mph

Thanks
Hugh

What surface preps do you have on those balls?

Personally, I'd *never* pass up the chance to pick up a Green Pin Zone Classic.

IME, in box finish, it would fit almost perfectly between the Nemesis and Rampage.  Looks like you have a preference for that 4 1/2" pin-to-PAP distance;  the ZC seems to work well with 4 1/2" to 5 1/2" pins.

What sort of hook shape are you looking for in the ZC?

Probally looking for more of an smooth arc. Probally for more of the harder patterns.

For tougher patterns, I usually like playing straighter through the front part of the lane.  That would lead me towards a PSA position where the LL angle is 75 degrees or more.  My Zone Classic is laid out like that, and it works great on Sport shots.

If, however, you want a shot shape that's smoother overall from front to back, you may want to consider kicking the PSA out closer to the VAL.  That will help get the ball started sooner, and it won't go crazy at the break.
