Great night of bowling... not..
« on: February 17, 2010, 06:59:09 AM »
Last night I was awarded my ring for my 300 that I bowled back in December and then promptly shot a 484.  Wanted to toss that ring in the garbage cause I felt I didn't deserve it after that horrid series.

I suck..

I wasn't confident.. I was lost from ball #1 .
The house is completely screwed up..but not usually this bad. The worst part is that I have built my average up to 211, highest I've ever been at that house, (2nd or 3rd highest in the house this year) and they are doing God knows what with the oil.  The last 4 weeks have been terrible.. Its a handicap league so not being able to shoot your average kinda kills you.

I would bet almost anyone that they couldn't average 210 for 5 games in this house if they have never bowled there before

I went to another house on the way home to practice just to make sure I didn't completely forget how to bowl.. threw 4 balls on a bunch of different lines and averaged about 205 for 6 games, just messing around with releases and breakpoints... went to my urethane and shot 278 and 238 my last two games..

That restored some confidence knowing that I could hit spots on the lane and the different reaction every shot at the first house wasn't all me...

J w73,

If you bowl long enough you'll just need to accept the fact that some nights are waaaaaaaaaay tougher than others.

Whenever you shoot a 150 game your mindset has to be "okay, that just means the next one will be 250". Averages are made up of all kinds of scores, both good and bad.

My advice is to keep it all in perspective and don't worry about what others may (or may not) be thinking. Just keep your head on straight and throw the next shot well...

Thanks for the advise..I just needed to vent and get it out of my system.

By the way my 300 was with a Brunswick Sidewinder.  Probably my best 300 I have thrown.. only 1 tripped 10.. the rest were 10 in the pit..at my mark at the arrows and at my breakpoint everyshot...

We all know people who have been bowling all their lives, week in and week out, and never shoot 300. You've done it. Be glad for that.

By the way, the Sidewinder was, and is, a very under-rated ball. Keep throwing strikes...

Don't feel that bad, I did the same thing this past Monday. Got my 299 and 300 awards, and then proceeded to go: 238, 221, 126. I wish I could say the 126 was because of splits, but my timing on my spare ball was off and I should of just hooked at my spares but I'm really trying to not get lazy on spare shots.
