Give me your comparison...3.5 vs. 2.5
« on: February 07, 2010, 02:41:13 AM »
Says it all.  Would like to get a 3.5 for Nationals.  How does it compare to the 2.5???

Who needs a 300 or 800, when I have a 294 and a 295!?!?!

STEROIDS.

I still think of the 2.5 as an awesome ball. Slightly cleaner than the 3.5 through the heads. I put a little polish on mine so I can use it more often.

The 3.5 is everything you like in the 2.5, but with a more aggressive move on the lane. I've been deeper on the lane (on a fresh pattern) with this ball than I've ever been. EVER!

I am definitely taking mine to nationals this year, hoping it will give me more forgiveness with my target.

Notclay says it all. 3.5 is more ball then the 2.5. Both are great balls but the 3.5 handles oil and length better. It is also more aggressive off the spot.

Cool.  Thanks guys.  That is what I was thinking.  I thought it would be a Nationals only ball.  It will be too much for me in league conditions, as my 2.5 polished is a lot of ball.

Yes much stronger than the 2.5 just don't be fooled when the heads are dry the 3.5 will read it soon and look weak down lane. Believe me the ball is not weak!

I have both & the 3.5 is as others said, is the 2.5 on steroids.  In a head-to-head comparison, I found that it reacts sooner and stronger to friction while retaining the 'crush the rack' action of the 2.5.  I got the 3.5 for Nationals but I intend to use it for Nationals and the upcoming tournament season as well as when I play sport shot conditions.  On the THS shot used during my league nights, I find it best during the 1st game but I do have to line up deeper inside.  I can  then switch to the 2.5 to finish out the set.

My pro shop guy drilled one up and layed it out identical to how his 2.5 is drilled up and he said he didnt notice much difference.. He's the only person I've heard say this, but he tries a lot of different balls, he's usually pretty close.
