I got my "dead" Absolute Inferno drilled semi-pin axis with the pin falling about 1-1 1/2" from my PAP. And I got the heck polished out of it. My Absolute, as most of you have heard, has really lost most of its reaction. It's actually playable straight up 5 on the THS. Right in the dry and it just walks into the pocket. Any hint of oil and it just goes dead straight. Tried soaking it but never worked. So...
I drilled the thing semi-pin axis to use as my light and super control ball. Well today, prebowling on a Friday, there's very light oil and drying up front and some decent amount of carrydown from open play. You see the ball start revving up near the arrows and then just forward roll the whole way down. My V2 Clean drilled 5 1/2" from pap was a bit too much and unpredictable. So for once, I was excited about dry lanes. This ball was very clean through the whole lane and the smoothest arc you could ask for. Ended up playing up 10 and even a bit further out actually slowing it down and revving it up. The ball actually had a good amount of drive, unlike what I was expecting. I left a few 7-9 splits in the set that I don't think I've ever left before. When you go high with this ball, the ball I swear, would take out the seven if it was left standing. The ball hits and flies left. It's pretty cool actually.
I didn't notice any loss of hit from the drilling. It's good as a spareball also. Revs up just enough to save it from the gutter if you sent it out a little too wide. So on oil this could serve, as good as any, a plastic ball. Once I try it on a fresh shot this Sunday, I'll give you guys an update.
