Heavy oil ball
« on: November 24, 2007, 02:58:36 AM »
Im looking to get a heavy oil lane ball to go along with my medium oil. Im looking at the anger and resurgence right now, but I am open to suggestions, other brands included. Which inferno series ball would be considered heavy oil?

All right, ive also heard the levrg and the anger are good in heavy oil lanes, but if the scorchin doesnt live that long i dont think it would be a good investment.

if your scorchin' inferno, or any other brunswick reactive/particle ball, didn't have a long life it's because it wasn't taken care of properly. it should have been cleaned after every use for one. if your scorchin' inferno was kept dull( for heavy oil )you should have had the ball run through the revivor or rejuvenator every 30 games or so. these devices remove the oil that the coverstock absorbed. it also would have been a good idea at this time to have the coverstock rescuffed as well. having both of these procedures done on a regular basis would make the ball react like new for hundreds of games.

I would say i take good care, clean my ball after every day of bowling although i havent gone through the rejuvinator process yet.

trust me, the use of the revivor/rejuvenator is the single most important thing you can do as far as taking care of your equipment. if you want your balls reaction to be like new as long as possible you'll have this done on a regular basis.

Out of the Inferno line, try the Total Inferno. The "gription" additive is similar to a particle ball, just slightly different so Brunswick didn't label it as such.  The ball revs up instantly, and can be dull or shiny, but for oil I'd try duller first.

Others I like are the Sidewinder and the Wizard which can both handle a good amount of oil, too.

By the way, Greg Hoppe is correct. Brunswick coverstocks that are properly cared for last forever.

I will second the Total. But, look into the Mammoth, also a Brunswick product but a little more affordable.

In our area guys still have the Ultimate Inferno and Strike Zones and I never see them clean them and they still hook in heavy oil.

I never clean my stuff either and it all hooks.

PS occassionally I resurface by sanding up from 320 up.
About every year or two.

I would suggest the Mammoth or the Anger, they are both mid priced but very very good balls on heavy oil.

leftyinhawaii, i've used nothing but brunswick bowling balls since 1995 and i've had a lot of them-----more so than the average league or tournament bowler. i've never, repeat never, had one die like you're talking about. we're talking over 50 balls. perhaps you're not bowling on as much oil as you think you are and your ball is rolling out because it's used up it's energy ?

You want a heavy oil ball look no farhter than the Resurgance, it is a lot more ball than you think it would be.

"notclay" is correct about one thing, he does have a lot of games on his all of his equipment, and I must say I have never seen anyone as anal about taking care of his equipment more than he is. I wish I had the fortitude to do it to all my equipment. But alas, I have better things to do

Anger sounds like a good ball selection but have never tried throwing it but from what I seen its not any stronger then any other ball that I've thrown. Im a MoRich type guy and really match up well with what I've tried so far. If you wanted to try Mo's stuff the Awesome Hook or LevRG would be a good choice to get some friction down the lane. With the right drilling and layouts, you will not want to bring these balls out on nothing but a flood.

My experience with the Total Inferno: two 300s and one 800 series in the first month.
I have not thrown the Anger... no need to.
