I was looking at the Big B ball catalog and it said that the break point of the smokin and the punisher are the same so couldnt you turn the punisher into a really awsome ball for playing deep inside lines if you just add some surface to it?

you could but the punisher wasn't really designed for that. the pearlized reactive coverstock on the punisher is mild compared to the coverstock on the smokin inferno. yes, dulling the punisher would help but the coverstock is still less aggressive.

They may have the same breakpoint "shape", but at a different hook potential.
The numbers we show for all balls are for "out of the box" condition. What you do to any ball, sanding or polishing, will change those numbers in one direction or another.

If you dull it, it won't have the same breakpoint.  It'll have an earlier breakpoint.  That's why they're different balls.

If you want the Punisher to work well from deep inside, I'd think you'd be better off leaving the surface as is, but using a layout that promotes recovery.  IME the Punisher is plenty strong enough off of the dry boards in box condition.
