Buying online vs pro shop

Excuse the newbie question, but its been about 23 years since I have bought a new ball.  I have reading up on the forums, and learning how much this sport has changed over years.  I have just about settled on the Copperhead, and unfortunately, my local pro-shop does not have it in yet, and is not sure when they will get it.  With my fall league starting up next month, I would love to be able to buy it now and practice.  The online stores ask me about Pin Placement and Top Weight.  This is where the blank stare comes in.  I have no idea what to put there.  Is this for the online store only if you were having them drill it for you?  I plan on just having my local pro shop drill it up for me...

Different top weights and pin placements allow you to use different types of drillings and keep the ball within the USBC's static weight requirements.  Since you should not need any kind of exotic drilling, something middle of the road like a 2.5-3.5oz top weight and 3-3.5" pin should be fine.

Thanks!!  I assume that the pro shop purchases the balls for their general stock the same way then, is that right?

your pro shop unlike the online can work with you watch you throw measure your pap and from there aid you in what pin you need while yeah online is cheaper but to them and yes some pro shops your money in there pocket that they will never have to deal with so long as they sale and get you out the door. that being said if your going to buy online talk with you pro shop guy and ask him what kid of specs would fit your game the best if he knows your going to have him drill it he should be willing to help you or at least try to match your price seeing that even though they don't have it in stock if its out they can order it and on most cases have it the next day just something to think about being a pro shop employee myself

Tell your local pro shop they've been released since June 23rd and every distributor should have them. If not, he needs to call a different one.

We've drilled three of them in the past few days and they are not hard to find.
By the way, great choice. This one is VERSATILE.

You have attempted to use a local pro shop, they did not have it.
