Title: Help with a carrydown strategy

This season I'm in a new house in a second shift league that follows a women's league.  The house has wood lanes and all of the women before us use plastic.  We end up with a shot with medium head oil and a good deal of carrydown

My Strike Zone (1000 grit finish) has trouble saving enough reaction for the backend to hit well, and my Zone Classic (box finish) isn't quite able to cut through the carrydown.

Would it be a good idea to maybe polish the Strike Zone to see if I can get it to save some kick for the carrydown?  Or would it be a better idea to sand the ZC?

I wouldn't necessarily polish the strike zone but if you have access to abralon pads, I'd try taking the finish on the Strike Zone up to say 4000 grit.  that should get you through the heads with still a good amount of energy for the backend.

I would try Rough Buff.  Abralon works too.

I say take the surface of the strike zone up gradually, say 1500 to start(thats what I use for carrydown), keep going until it will push up front and move some in the back.

Carrydown on wood lanes???? Are you sure they are wood???? Are you 100% sure its carry down?

What about simply moving your feet to the outside (1 or 2 boards), or even move the target 3 boards towards the gutter and your feet accordingly? This will circle the ball around the carrydown, and normally you will find enough head oil there in later games.

the best stragedy for crrydown is surface on the ball and a straighter line to the pocket. many contemporary players can not play a true down and in shot let alone point the ball up to the pocket. these types of shots are an advantage on this type of lane condition.

I've got the ball drilled 3-3/8 stacked leverage.  I am certain the lanes are wood and that there is carrydown.

I tried to play straighter into the pocket, but the ball tends to roll too early and goes through the headpin on that line.  Also, there are a few other players that play that line during my league and they dry it up to the point where the SZ gets going way to early.  I've been able to switch to the ZC after about a game and a half, but I need to figure out a scoring strategy before then.

Thanks for the surface prep advice, I'll give it a shot tomorrow night in league and see how it goes.
