Hey Rico, thanks for the SICK VOODOO ROLL!
« on: February 25, 2005, 08:22:18 AM »
The Absolute, and even more so, the Classic Zone with the pin in palm are FAPPPTASTIC. I can visually tell a difference with the way the ball hits the pins, driving the headpin on its side and straight back.

It is also a confidence booster when people are offering me coffee to go with my sweet roll!

The pin of my CZ is at the centre of grip, with CG, PSA swinging out 45 degree towards VAL, no weight hole.

Pure gold.

On edit.  Don't know why my driller did that, cos I've never seen any ball drill like that before.  He watched me bowl and then decided that's the way to go.

There is the Absolute, the Classic is the same idea, but I went 7/8th x-hole 5 5/8th from the pin instead of 6 3/4".

For the Absolute, I went on the line through the pin and cg.

For the Classic, you draw the line from the pin to psa. I didn't want to drill through the PSA, so Ham said to go 1 1/8th back towards the pin and pitch the hole towards the "bottom" of the psa mark.

Midlane read on steroids, smooth and strong backend reaction. Really helps open up the lane when they are fairly juiced or wet/dry.

I'm debating what will be the next ball that gets punched like this.

What style of bowler is this drilling suited for?

I think a lot of styles can benefit from this layout, I'm just slightly concerned about high trackers. My PAP is fairly low, so I'm OK.

Sounds like something that would suit a light load particle ball .. perhaps a blueish one ..

I seen a high tracker use this layout and it hit fingers and thumb.

This Absolute out hooks the rest by like a zillion boards give or take.

I pitched the x-hole away from the thumb just in case.

Be careful with the knowledge I have instilled in you. In the wrong hands, it can abused. You are the protector of the new precious. Use wisely and sparingly.

As far as the bowler with the high track. It's something that can be experimented with. Some high trackers are not always affected by lower pins. You can adjust the height of the pin accordingly. It can as effective 1" above the centerline. You can adjust the weighthole location. Instead of 45 degrees, use say 60 degrees or more below the thumb. Just have to take into consideration the flare, how it will effect the bow tie as well as catching any holes.

The reason or players I tend to use this for are:
A Rev challenged player
A higher speed player

The conditions are:
Tighter front to back (blends out lane)
Tighter fronts and mid lane (picks up lane sooner and continual)
Longer oil patterns (reads sooner and stronger)
Tighter flatter patterns (can create reaction-cleaner to the left and stronger to the right)

Pin in the center of grip is no secret. I have used it on and off in some balls for 6 years. Main thing you have to be careful of is the top weight. Too much top weight and it is hard to make legal. As you mention ball track flare is something that needs to be watched. A lot of people don't realize this.
I have taken a 3 inch pin and put the pin in the center of my grip and put the cg directly to the right with a 5-1/2" hole. Use this same layout with a weight hole 4" over makes the ball roll forever.
