How should I have a ball drilled, as far as finger and thumb to get more hook?
The more left that I stand and throw the ball out it wont come back into the pocket, how can I have it drilled to get more comeback with it, Will 1/2 finger 3/4 thumb do the trick? Or could it be the way I am holding the ball,

Easy solution, stand farther right, its not all about big hook.

And why would I "saw" pins in half, THATS A WASTE OF PINS! I'd rather blow it over with my storm, and 21mph ball speed on dry shots.

While this is true, it is not what he asked. There are ways to drill the ball to be more effective for what he wants. Part of the problems I have with this site daily are people mindlessly answering posts without addressing the question asked.
Whether it be stronger ball, stronger drill, less speed etc, but I am no expert and will ask the questions that the experts will want to know.
What ball are you throwing?
What type of condition are you bowling on?
How fast do you throw it?
How much "hand do you have?
Where does your ball track (oil rings in relation to fingers and thumb)?
and any other additional information would be helpful to those who happen to know the specifics.
You do need to know however if you are bowling on true heavy oil you will have to listen to BK and move right and let the ball work.

Ok, sorry B, your right. Do you mean finger and thumb as in fingertip or conventional, or in relation to the pin and CG? If you want a bigger hook to come back, it will need to roll earlier so something like pin below, and right of ring finger, about an inch, with cg, either in the center of the palm, or under the pin. Again, this is just an overall assumption.

I have the icon 2, the oil conditions are varied most of the time they are dry and I see no oil rings on the ball, never been clocked on the speed but the ball is 15 pounds finger tipped drilled
-
What is the ball's current layout?
--------------------

-
the ball is drilled fingertip with 2 inserts and none in the thumb, I stand on the 19 board and throw over the third or 4th dot on the floor the ball will not react most of the time no matter where I stand it will head right for the nose, there is no action with this ball.
thanks

Then I would say more than likely the problem is in your release, just by your terminology I can tell you are still rather new to the sport, so I'm sure you just need to put more time into learning basic mechanics of the game. More than likely you're not getting the ideal rotation that makes the ball go from skid to hook to roll. Have your local pro shop operator watch you bowl and help you with these things.

Could the ball be burning up early, as he stated that there is no oil rings on the ball?
-
When there is oil on the lanes there are some oil rings but they are right over the finger holes, sorry I should have been more clear that also makes me believe that I too nay be coming out of the ball wrong.
-
Either, you are coming up the back of the ball too much, or your ball is flaring too much, and you might need a weight hole, or something like that to tone the flare down.

Yeah, you're definately not clearing out of the thumb fast enough, or so it sounds like. Tracking over the fingers like that is generally an indicator that your release is that of a "full roller" which I believe is created by rotating the ball with the fingers and thumb versus having your thumb cleared when your fingers rotate through the ball.
Once again, I think it is something that can be fixed with a properly fit ball and some help from your local pro, and then just some good old fashioned practice. I would definately make a point to ensure your span is not too long, as that is just going to keep you rolling up the back of the ball and staying in the thumbhole too long. Hope this helps.

Question for Bowlers aid pro shop? This is for my wife
Do they make the Rhino Balls anymore She had a Rhino Pro dark blue with yellow dot and we cant find them anywhere???
Thank you for your help with all the questions

I regret to inform you they do not make rhinos anymore
However, I have seen some of the old teal rhino's and gold rhino pro's on ebay. Outside of ebay, you'd have to rely on just getting lucky and finding someone who stocked up on some rhinos back when they were being produced. Good Luck!
