Horror stories of the Smokin Inferno???
« on: June 20, 2006, 02:25:45 PM »
Well, I went against what ive heard of the SI for high rev and high speed bowlers. I was bowling on a 41' Scorpion pattern tonight. My Ebonite Big One and even the one were kinda over/under during practice so i pulled out my SI with pin under bridge and CG 3/4" down and right from center of grip. Found the shot to be even more speed sensitive to the shark pattern. I was playing 20-10 (actual ball track) I was standing on the 25th board. I didnt see any over/under problems, the ball only over reacted when i was slow or missed my mark left and it only under reacted when I got fast or missed the mark right. I dunno, I feel this ball will match up with my game very well on a house shot. We shall see this friday.

I dont see all the bashing but so far its a good ball.

Ball: pin under bridge, cg right and down 3/4"-1" from center of palm, 1000 grit polished.

3 game set tonight on the 41' scorpion shot: 190, 160, 193 for 543. (181 average for the night) 161 season average after 6 weeks.

So far, thumbs up for the SI!!

Yeah, I saw a really nice smooth roll from this ball. Although, I do need to bowl with it when its quiet, I think im rolling over the middle finger hole.

A couple of people here, as well as myself, see this as an incredibly smooth pearl reactive. I suppose on squeaky clean backends it is snappy, but for me it is smooth as butter; the Vapor is the snappy ball, but in a good way (as well as it's brother the Absolute).

Agreed. Athough if I remember correctly you always disagreed with me that the Smokin' is smoother then Absolute.

My smokin has been an awesome ball.  Took a few games to break the cover in I thought, even after hitting it with a scotchbrite.  Super clean thru the front with an awesome controlled roll.  Hits like a tank as well.

I'm not sure if it's got the absolute for the best ball i've thrown though.

The SI was a bizare creature. and to this day i still contest that the Rampage, was what the smoking was supposed to be.

Maybe thats why Brunswick is producing another Inferno with the same specs as the Smokin Inferno with a few tweaks in the new ball?? Could be that the Smokin was a dud ball in brunswicks eyes and feel they needed to produce an identical ball?? Just my .2 on that topic.

Personally, I thought the Intense, Smokin', and Blazing were the best Infernos ever made and in that order as well. They were only seperated by a small margin of greatness mind you .
