Maxxx Twisted and Slide Reviews
« on: November 23, 2008, 10:56:58 AM »
Hello All

Just wanted to give everyone my views of the new Brunswick equipment

MAXXX Zone
With surface adjustments this is one of the most versatile balls Brunswick has ever made.  One could have a complete arsenal with just this one ball with different surfaces.  With the out of box surface this ball handles heavy oil with ease.  Hitting it with 2000 abralon turns this ball into the perfect benchmark ball good for all medium conditions.  4000 abralon with polish really gets this ball down the lane on medium to dry conditions.  This ball always reads the mids and handles carry down very well.  Even at 4000 plus polish, this ball still handles carrydown with ease.  The out of box surface is kind of scary due to its dull surface, but with proper surface adjustments his ball will find a spot into anybody's bag.

Twisted Destruction
This ball ignores the front part of the lane and is much more responsive than the twisted pearl.  I need the lanes to burn up a bit before I can pull this ball out of my bag.  My usual moves are start with the maxxx the first couple of games and switch to this ball when the heads and mids start to go.  This ball is perfect for playing on top of the dry line.  It is hard to get a consistent reaction throwing this ball into the dry due to its quick responsive nature.  With any surface adjustments this ball still does not like to start in too much oil.  This ball loves beat up surfaces such as guardian or wood but can be touchy for me on synthetics.  What a great upgrade to the twisted pearl.

Avalanche Slide
This ball is a beast for the price point.  This ball is supposed to be a longer stronger version of the pearl avalanche.  To me this ball picks up in the same place as the pearl but has a much quicker response.  When this ball finds some dry boards it really likes to change directions.  This ball handles carrydown fairly well for what this ball was designed to do, and goes threw the pins better than the solid or the pearl avalanche.  I recommend this ball for people seeking that ball for dry lanes and beat up surfaces.  Those with slow ball speeds will love throwing this ball.

Thanks

Thanks Russ,

Ditto here on the Maxxx. Mine's at 2000 and very good there.

I have used the Destruction on fresh as long as I'm playing outside and straight. This ball is fantastic through the pins. My very first game with it was a perfecto. Since then it hasn't let me down.

My Slide is impressive when the oil is GONE and I want to play that area.

These three, when used on the right conditions and with the proper surface are keepers!

The thing that I like about all three are that they are very versatile with surface changes. I agree with the Maxxx, I have seen the Destruction with 2000 & 4000, which I think is a better fit with this ball. Also Brad won using a Slide the first 2 games that had surface on it. Just increases the versatility of the balls.
