Title: How should i drill these balls (ultra and blast)
Post by: huskerfan711 on May 15, 2008, 10:44:31 AM
So I just got my new ultra zone and new blast zone in the mail today.

Thinking of heading up and drilling them tonight.

I was wondering what layouts people put on these balls. I am specifically looking for something to use on the PBA patterns, as I plan to bowl a few regionals this summer.

with these two balls, i've found it to be quite profitable to use weaker pin-to-pap distances with strong MB angles. i throw it around 18 mph with 350 revs and have 5.5" pin-to-pap distance with a 45* MB angle on both of them. my blast zone is a beast on scorpion, thats all i can say!!!

No offense... but with a Brunswick ball, that would most likely roll out at the arrows...

Anyway, I drilled the Ultra with 5" pin to PAP, pin up, and the MB just left of the thumb (remember, i'm a lefty) and with the Blast I went with 5", pin down, mb a little bit farther out from the thumb... didn't measure exactly degrees, but oh well.

The Ultra zone rolled fantastic, first brunswick ball i've ever thrown that made it down the lane AND still recovered.

I haven't thrown the blast zone yet, seeing as how we ran out of slug material for making an exaticated slug after the first one..
