How to Drilling?
« on: March 17, 2005, 12:11:44 PM »
I was doing some research and am leaning towards purchasing an Absolute Inferno.  I still have a little research, but it looks like that will be the ball.

I called a few shops around town and also an Internet shop that is located in Phoenix.  I was all set to order on-line, but they want to know the pin placement and the top weight, in addition to the weight of the ball.  I don't know any of these.  I haven't purchased a ball in over 6 years (Combat Zone was my last one) so I'm at a loss.

While I would be saving money by going through the Internet, I think I will go with the pro shop and talk to someone about how to have it drilled.

Any comments?  Suggestions?

2-3 inch pin with 2-3 ounces top should be versatile enough for most drillings.

chip33az,

In a case like this, I highly reccommend going to the local shop and spending a few extra bucks, but MAKE SURE IT IS A GOOD,REPUTABLE SHOP WITH KNOWLEDGABLE DRILLERS!

The shop will have the equipment you need to get a weight on your ball and most of them can order balls with requested specs like topweight and pin placement.

They can also look at how your ball is now, listen to what you want a ball to do, watch you throw the ball, and determine what ball specs would be best for you and how to drill it to get the desired results, but only if the driller is a skilled, knowledgable individual who cares about his work and the bowlers.  You can get a hack to drill it, but would it be right?

Believe me, if you have never had a ball professionally drilled, and you are desirous to be good, it is worth the time and effort to get one done right and take a few lessons.
